Halloween 2025

Happy Halloween! We did trick-or-treating at my office again and celebrated National Cat Day a couple of days late. Unicorn making magic happen! The kids and Freddy. We got a little bit of a late start around 7:30. We went to a neighborhood near the high school where several of Clara's friends live. We stopped at Micah's house to say hi and another schoolmate happened to be over as well. We got to visiting too long and by the time we headed back out, some houses either had run out of candy (including Micah's, where they went through 600 pieces his mom said) or were already done for the night. But, we still got around to several. It had just gotten done raining and the wind was cold, so I didn't care to be out too long myself. Clara asked to have another post-Halloween party this year and Brynn planned and executed the whole thing. One of our fav parts was the missing children posters which were all the guests. Scouting Campout + Swimming

In order for Clara to cross over to a full scout in February, she needs to have an overnight campout somewhere. They had already done one as a pack right before Clara joined so we had to go it alone, which was fine because then we could be on our own schedule and all that. But, we figured we should get it done sooner than later since the weather wasn't going to get any more favorable between now and February. So, Dana booked us a spot at Maplewood for one night. It was decent weather when we were setting up the tent and we had a nice spot right next to one of the lakes. Clara got into whittling. We had brats over the fire for dinner. Clara telling us some spooky stories once it got dark. Then we went to Tessa and Chad's lake for a bit since we were cold and bored once it had gotten dark. We were so thankful for that! We didn't get much sleep in our tent. We tried to put down a bunch of blankets under our sleeping bags, but all three of us got so cold and the ground was so ...

Pumpkin Patch + Hunting + Halloween Preview

Clara has been busy making keychains and beaded snakes.  Last weekend was the fall festival at Clara's school. We worked concessions and Clara and Grandma played bingo. Grandma Holly came to stay for the weekend while Dad and Grandpa were on their annual trip up north for grouse hunting. Amanda, Adria, Clara and I hit up the pumpkin patch on Saturday. We got rained and hailed on and a wind squall came over us just as we were leaving. But we did see a beautiful rainbow on our way back home. Amanda and I befriended this llama? Alpaca?  The cook at the cowboy station was making chicken wild rice soup and squash over the fire. For the first time we did the horse-drawn wagon ride. I was laughing at how every single year Clara struggles with her pumpkin. Poor thing. Grandma came back from shopping and then we all made homemade pizza. Dana's pictures from their hunting trip. On to my fav - Halloween! Well, close enough. Clara did preview pics with me this week. She is going as Clara ...
