Happy Halloween! We did trick-or-treating at my office again and celebrated National Cat Day a couple of days late. Unicorn making magic happen! The kids and Freddy. We got a little bit of a late start around 7:30. We went to a neighborhood near the high school where several of Clara's friends live. We stopped at Micah's house to say hi and another schoolmate happened to be over as well. We got to visiting too long and by the time we headed back out, some houses either had run out of candy (including Micah's, where they went through 600 pieces his mom said) or were already done for the night. But, we still got around to several. It had just gotten done raining and the wind was cold, so I didn't care to be out too long myself. In order for Clara to cross over to a full scout in February, she needs to have an overnight campout somewhere. They had already done one as a pack right before Clara joined so we had to go it alone, which was fine because then we could be on our own schedule and all that. But, we figured we should get it done sooner than later since the weather wasn't going to get any more favorable between now and February. So, Dana booked us a spot at Maplewood for one night. It was decent weather when we were setting up the tent and we had a nice spot right next to one of the lakes. Clara got into whittling. We had brats over the fire for dinner. Clara telling us some spooky stories once it got dark. Then we went to Tessa and Chad's lake for a bit since we were cold and bored once it had gotten dark. We were so thankful for that!
