Butterfly Ball

This year Brynn was eligible to attend the Butterfly Ball put on by the park district at the Hilton Garden Inn. It is for dads (or grandpas, uncles, etc) and girls ages four through 12. Dana and Brynn invited friends Adam and Karlie to double date with them.  Brynn got her hair done at the salon in the afternoon. By the time I got home from work, she was in her dress already and Daddy had done her nails. I got in a few pictures before they dashed out the door to eat at Granite City before the dance started. I went and visited with Karlie's mom while they girls and dads were at the dance. Brynn and Dana beat me home, and Brynn met me at the door, excited to tell me all about their big night. It sounded like a great time, and I think she's already looking forward to going again next year.   We needed to have at least one picture with Baby in it. I

How To Make a "Little Critter" Sandwich

I grew up on Mercer Mayer's "Little Critter" books, and Brynn really seems to have taken a liking to them as well. One of the titles we have is "Bye-Bye, Mom and Dad" where the parents go away on a trip and leave Little Critter and Little Sister to stay with Grandpa and Grandma. In the middle of the story, Little Critter takes it upon himself to make lunch for everyone. Brynn thought it was pretty funny, and asked me if she could make a sandwich like Little Critter made in the book. As you will see below, it isn't necessarily your run-of-the-mill PB&J. So, I told her if she ate a "normal" lunch she could make one of these sandwiches afterward.  So, here are the step-by-step instructions on how to make Little Critter's signature sandwich. And a video tutorial, too.    The ingredients Oops! There she goes. Here is the  video  if you have an extra six minutes. :-) Sorry; it's a little long even after I cut some out. Oh...

What a day!

What a great day we had yesterday. Brynn and I made pancakes for breakfast while we waited for Daddy to wake up so we could all go to the Bouncin' Bash. We went last year and Brynn has been excited to go back ever since. It's held in the Veterans Memorial Arena in West Fargo and they have a bunch of inflatables and some games for kids. Brynn seemed to be taking her time warming up to the inflatables, but the Froemming in her came out when we went to the Wild West Shootout game. The set-up was using dart guns that you aim at Velcro circle targets on a backdrop. We must have spent 20 minutes at this thing alone. She was a pro by the time we left there.  Reloading After a quick trip to Wal-mart, we headed home to enjoy the great weather for the rest of the day. Brynn was outside from 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm, only coming into the house for bathroom breaks and supper. She washed her trike and bike, collected more pine cones for her pine cone collection, started a berry coll...

Arrivals

It seems Spring has arrived! As I'm sure everyone else has been doing, we've made it outside to enjoy the weather every night this week so far.  The other arrival was Brynn's new baby cousin, Benjamin! We were able to go to Bismarck last weekend and see him in the hospital. He is so cute and sweet; Brynn was so excited to meet him. She was a little wary at first, and before we left I had asked her if she was going to hold him, she told me "No! I'm only four!" But the second day we went to visit him, she was much more confident and wanted to hold him, touch him and give him kisses. She kept commented on how cute he is. Of course she had a million questions for my poor sister. Brynn learned a lot last weekend because my sister answered them all for her. First ride on her new bike. Yes, she is wearing five headbands. Fun with sticks! Riding to the park. Down the slide with Monkey. I foolishly thought she would be done with the bab...
