Weekend Fun

We didn't have much planned for this weekend (which is always how I like it!), but we did end up finding some fun things to do.

Rheault Farm was having a spring event on Saturday, so we decided to check it out. We didn't get there until within the last hour of it, so I think some of the activities had already started to wind down.

Brynn added to this mural they had going when we first got there.

Then we checked out the beetles, bugs and spiders this guy had. The ones in the jars were alive.

EWW!

Next they planted some bean seeds in these little dirt cups. We thought they could transplant them into the garden once they got going. However, then I set the cups down by the face painting station to take pictures and then by the end had forgotten all about them and ended up leaving them there. Oopsies.

This guy was telling Clara her plant might grow as tall as the one from Jack and the Beanstalk.

We finished off with face panting...

Clara coerced her artist into doing her hand and also her face. She asked for a 'golden wolf' for her face.

Brynn got the Deathly Hallows symbol (from Harry Potter) on her face and this flaming volleyball on her hand.

Clara trying to finagle another one for her hand.

My dad always played basketball with me growing up and it was always so much fun. Brynn wanted a hoop so last year we got her one for Christmas. She always asks me to come out and play with her, but usually then Clara is left out, so she and I team up together. Brynn plays very aggressively and I'm constantly reminding her to remember their age difference. Clara and I try to pass the ball to one another, but Brynn is hard core defense, and we usually just have to walk up to each other and try to place it in each other's hands. Haha. It was such a nice night on Saturday evening, and we were out playing some ball, so I asked Dana to video us.

After yet another game of BB ended in tears from Clara, we reminded Brynn about playing ball together nicely. Next thing I knew, they were 'racing,' and Brynn let Clara win every time. :-)

All winter Brynn begged to go to SkyZone. It never really seemed to work out, until the rainy, gloomy day we had today rendered them restless in the house apparently. Daddy is fighting a cold and was going to try and get some rest in the afternoon, so I thought it seemed like a good day to check it out. We just started out with a half an hour time slot as I thought for sure 30 minutes of straight jumping would wear them right out, but I underestimated them. They were still raring to go at the end of our first half hour, so I went and paid for another half-hour session.

It was so entertaining watching them bouncing and doing flips.

I don't know who this girl is, but she leaned over to Clara while in line and said something to her. It was just cute.

Clara would seem to get lost in the foam blocks. I can't imagine how much child sweat is on those things. Gross.

Brynn had to often rescue Clara and pull her up from the pit.

Clara's face paint is cute. Brynn is getting real good at dribbling. Keep practicing!

Ack those plastic jars would not be enough material between me and those spiders! Love the face painting. Ah yes, lots of good basketball memories! I remember when he'd bring that big light out when it got dark out so we could keep playing. Fun times at SkyZone, but yes I always think about the germs, blegh.

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Christmas 2025/New Years 2026

Christmas gift wrapping shenanigans: Keeping Brynn company while she wraps all of our Christmas gifts. Brynn and I couldn't help but peek at the 150 Famous Poems book we gave to Clara. So many good ones. Getting into the holiday spirit at Courts Plus. Ha! Christmas eve brunch. Clara's gingerbread house contest strategy notes. Contestants were allowed 20 minutes to shop for their houses at Wal-mart. We left ourselves little time to get ready for the 3:00 Christmas eve service at our church. But, we made it and thankfully didn't have to sit in the overflow area in the chapel! It was a beautiful service. We had bit more time in between church and when we planned to leave for Tessa's, so I mixed up my eggnog and we got the car packed. Tessa's family hosted Christmas eve at their lake home. We had a great mix of people to play a game of Mind the Gap. Getting cookies ready for Santa. Clara got Dana and me up around 7:30 and we watched her open her stocking. I think Dana a...
