Christmas 2022

On Friday we made crepes for breakfast.

The girls baked and decorated birthday cakes for Jesus.

We had two different kinds of pasta for dinner and then exchanged gifts amongst the four of us.

The cakes turned out wonderfully.

Saturday morning we made crepes for breakfast again and awaited the arrival of Grandpa and Grandma Froemming and Uncle John and Auntie Christel.

We picked up lunch once everyone arrived and launched into 'Loaded Questions' and snacks until it was time to get ready for the 4:00 church service.

Holly and I realized we were holiday ying and yang! :-)

We got organized for a few family photos.

Clara made our beautiful napkin rings for Christmas dinner.

On to gifts!

Hey, look who made an appearance and gifted Brynn a gigantic box of fruit snacks. 💜

Brynn took charge of tracking Santa's whereabouts.

We watched National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. Classic!

Ready for Santa.

It said, "You are the most talented person ever. Leave a note!"

He did (leave a note)...and a few crumbs.

Brynn settled in next to the tree, but only for a little rest before she headed down to her bed for the night.

Clara could hardly contain herself and was up at the latest at 6:30...that's the time she arrived at my bedside anyhow. I'm pretty sure she was awake and restraining herself for as long as possible before she came to our room. I held her off until almost 7:00 with her snuggling next to me in bed. The plan was to wake Brynn (which is why I was trying to get her to wait as long as possible), but when Clara went to rouse Brynn, she opted to sleep and said she'd open her gifts later). So, we dug in. I got some goodies in my stocking!

Grandpa, Grandma and Clara made a delicious Christmas morning breakfast of bacon, caramel rolls and pancakes.

This is what you could find Clara doing most of the day today. She and Dana did watch the live action Aladdin movie, but otherwise she powered through three Baby-sitter's Club graphic novels....of which she had received the box set from Grandpa and Grandma.

I had a hankerin' for some fresh air so I bundled up for a walk this afternoon. It had warmed up to about -4 so that seemed ok. It was snowing and looked so beautiful.

I encountered some turkeys along the way.

Feeling a little like a popsicle.

The rest of the afternoon was spent relaxing, more book reading by Clara and the girls made hot cocoa bombs with a set of molds they received from Santa.

We had a wonderful Christmas! We planned out our Christmas Vacation bucket list activities for this next week tonight, some of which include our gingerbread house decorating contest, sledding, ice and roller skating, a visit to the Plains Art Museum, breakfast at Starbucks, morning movie (A Christmas Story) and a reading afternoon. I think that's most of it! We have a few appointments and projects to do in between the fun stuff too.

We're looking forward to celebrating with the Dietz/Weckerly crew next weekend over New Year's.

Here's a little video recap:

Aw, great times! Your holiday drink looks delicious. You and Holly looked fab! Great family pictures. That's sweet that Brooklyn got to pop over. Elise and Oliver were also on the Santa tracker! He was in South America before Oliver went to bed. Great movie selection for Christmas Eve. Benjamin used to love those "Who Would Win?" books. Brynn's shark sandals are so funny. Love your new coat! Merry Christmas!

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Easter + April Birthdays

The girls had Thursday, Friday and Monday off from school for the Easter break. So, Dana and I took most of the same time off (work) to match.  Always reading. 💜 Hanging out with Brynn. 💗 Dana and I went on a Costco date. We tried our hand at homemade ravioli again. I think it went a bit more smoothly compared to last time. Hubert's sister Abby stopped by for a visit. We hadn't seen her in a long time and so it was fun to have her We celebrated Dana's birthday and kicked it off with some Sandy's donuts. I don't recall what was so funny. haha. Clara's card. Birthday King Clara dyed eggs. I baked a birthday cake for Dana, messed it up getting it out of the pans, and Clara somehow cobbled it together into a masterpiece. Dana chose Lucky 13's for dinner out. On Saturday we packed up to hit up Oliver's birthday party before we went on to Dead Lake for Easter. Oliver is 9! January + Valentine's Day + CATS!

We ARE still alive over here and have not frozen to death. Here's what we've been up to for the past month and a half! Brynn and Hubert at the OG (Olive Garden): 'Lady and the Tramp' style. haha. Taking in a Force game...with extra fighting. It was very exciting. One Sunday when Clara was at a sleepover, the three of us went to Black Coffee Waffle Bar after church and then for some crepes and boba at Tea & Crepe. Then Brynn and I went prom dress shopping which was really fun. She did find a dress she loves so that was a relief. This is not the one she chose, but she tried on quite a few nice ones. Clara made crowns for the king and I (me). Clara had to write an essay to be considered for the robotics team at school. She waited for at least a couple of weeks to learn if she was accepted, and unfortunately was not. She was pretty disappointed, but she does have a chance to reapply next year when she's a fifth grader, and won't have to write another essay. I th...
