December: Parties + Christmastime

I saw this recipe for a Norwegian dish called Fattigmand. It looks like a funnel cake of sorts to me. My mom has the special tool you need for it, so if we get ambitious over break, maybe I will borrow it from her and attempt to make it.

We don't have an elf on the shelf at our house, but every year Clara pines for one.

I dried some orange slices for some simmer pots.

...and also used them for a garnish on this cake I made for work.

I was invited to Tessa's annual Favorite Things party at the beginning of December.

While I was gone, Clara and Dana were having a fun time together.

I brought a simmer pot "kit" in a mason jar, a candle from my fav candle company here in Fargo and some energy drink packets.

One of the things I received was a gift wrap cutter. It sure has come in handy as I've been wrapping gifts this year.

The party was so fun and Tessa always hosts a wonderful get-together.

I think Clara and Cora were dressed up as witches one day.

Clara sang in church and both sets of grandparents came to watch. She did a great job!

We went to Randy's for some breakfast/brunch/lunch after.

Clara was invited to her friend and classmate's birthday party at SkyZone. She was the only girl there, which she was alerted to in advance, but we were so touched by his birthday gift request. 💙

Straight from SkyZone, Clara went over to Adria's for a sleepover. They crack me up when they're together.

The following day we went to watch Prairie Joy's  dance performance. It was so great!

Later that evening we celebrated Reagan's 18th (!) birthday at the lake.

On Sunday Brynn and I were back at the lake attending a Favorite Things party, this time hosted by Reagan and Elise. Super fun again!

Brynn won the prize basket with all kinds of goodies.

We hung around for some krumkake making with Grandma.

That evening Reagan, Elise, my parents and I attended the Pentatonix concert. They were fantastic.

Yahoo! I was the first of us four to go on official holiday break as of December 19th. The girls were early out on Friday the 21st and then go back on the 2nd. Dana is off now until the 2nd as well.

Elf day at Clara's school:

PJ day was Friday, the last day before break. They watched a movie and had popcorn and treats in her classroom.

We thought we were going to brave the cold wind the other night for a walking holiday lights tour, but we made it to the next neighborhood over and had to go back because it was too nasty outside.

Friday night my parents stopped to do some Christmas cookie baking with Clara and me. Correction: my mom came and baked cookies and I mostly watched.

Brynn and I did one of my other favs, raspberry ribbon cookies, together on Saturday afternoon.

Then we went to Bear Creek Winery for some snacks and wine for Dana and me.

On Sunday Brynn and Hubert went ice skating.

Clara is at Grandpa and Grandma Froemmings' until they come to celebrate Christmas Tuesday morning.

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Reagan Graduation + MDW + Tennis

This past weekend our oldest niece, Reagan, graduated high school. She will be attending UND for nursing in the fall. We're so proud of you and love you so much, Reagan!   Cousin Cayden had his Italian soda bar set up at the party which was super fun and a big hit. She opened a few gifts the night before her commencement. Reagan is the third generation to graduate from Harvey High as my mom and her dad, Chad also attended there. This was such a fun gift idea that Tessa put together from her and Chad. We got back home Sunday evening and between the four of us doing different things, spent most of Memorial Day outside. It was such beautiful weather. Brynn and I played tennis and Dana and Clara replaced some shrubs and did yardwork. The tennis season has wrapped up for Brynn now. She's sad to not be playing anymore, but still gets some court time between playing with friends and sometimes Clara and/or me. We're so proud of her and glad she played again this year. I had taken s...
