School + Labor Day Weekend + Stuff

Brynn's HS did a senior sunrise at 6:00 AM a few days after school started. I think there was only one guy there, so mostly girls....taking pictures and what not. They took a group shot of all the girls who were there. Brynn is fifth in from the right on the bottom/front row, kneeling.

Clara and I walked over for the first HS home game last Friday night.

Clara procured us some snacks and scored some free popcorn in the process.

We celebrated Mom's birthday over labor day weekend with our usual fish fry.

It was a team effort in lighting the candles.

Happy birthday, Mom!

The after party crew playing Nertz.

It was very foggy last Sunday morning. I went out into it for a walk and could just feel the moisture on me.

Brynn seemed pretty set on attending UND after she graduates this next spring, but asked to visit NDSU to check out another option. Her friend Manasseh is currently attending there as a biochem major. He was just finishing up his classes for the day when we were arriving to meet with a psychology professor and do our tour. So, he tagged along with us.

It was very helpful to meet with the psychology professor as that is what Brynn is considering majoring in. Brynn was pretty pleased with the tour and the info we got. We also have a tour scheduled for UND in October, so we'll see how she's feeling after that.

After we got back home from NDSU on Friday, Clara and I mixed up some chocolate chip cookies and we made homemade pizza for dinner.

Clara started tennis lessons for the fall session at Courts Plus again.

Dana went to a swap meet with his friend Chris on Saturday, so the girls and I went out on the town for dinner at Pounds.

Chris sent me this pic of Dana near the chainsaws. I fully expected Dana to return with all of those shown, but I think he just bought one. :-)

We have a new c-store that went up just own the street so Clara and I walked down and picked up some snacks for a movie. The guy who rang us up pegged us immediately as he asked "are you guys having a movie night?" Ha.

Clara finished 'Are you there, God? It's me, Margaret." on audio book so she wanted to watch the movie. It's so good. I had read the book as a child as well and then Brynn and I saw the movie in the theater with my sister and niece and when it was first released.

Manasseh and Brynn twinning today.

Adria came over to play this afternoon.

Oh I love it! Such an exciting time for Brynn as she figures out where she might want to go next year! Plus all the senior things! I love the picture of Dana with the chainsaws, haha :)

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Reagan Graduation + MDW + Tennis

This past weekend our oldest niece, Reagan, graduated high school. She will be attending UND for nursing in the fall. We're so proud of you and love you so much, Reagan!   Cousin Cayden had his Italian soda bar set up at the party which was super fun and a big hit. She opened a few gifts the night before her commencement. Reagan is the third generation to graduate from Harvey High as my mom and her dad, Chad also attended there. This was such a fun gift idea that Tessa put together from her and Chad. We got back home Sunday evening and between the four of us doing different things, spent most of Memorial Day outside. It was such beautiful weather. Brynn and I played tennis and Dana and Clara replaced some shrubs and did yardwork. The tennis season has wrapped up for Brynn now. She's sad to not be playing anymore, but still gets some court time between playing with friends and sometimes Clara and/or me. We're so proud of her and glad she played again this year. I had taken s...
