Scouting Campout + Swimming

In order for Clara to cross over to a full scout in February, she needs to have an overnight campout somewhere. They had already done one as a pack right before Clara joined so we had to go it alone, which was fine because then we could be on our own schedule and all that. But, we figured we should get it done sooner than later since the weather wasn't going to get any more favorable between now and February.

So, Dana booked us a spot at Maplewood for one night. It was decent weather when we were setting up the tent and we had a nice spot right next to one of the lakes.

Clara got into whittling.

We had brats over the fire for dinner.

Clara telling us some spooky stories once it got dark.

Then we went to Tessa and Chad's lake for a bit since we were cold and bored once it had gotten dark. We were so thankful for that!

We didn't get much sleep in our tent. We tried to put down a bunch of blankets under our sleeping bags, but all three of us got so cold and the ground was so hard.

In the morning we explored around a little bit and then Dad and Clara got started on hobo breakfasts.

Brynn surprised me at my office with these beautiful flowers and sweet card. 💜

Clara's fifth grade school picture! She looks so old. But, they turned out really well.

Clara is joining the Red Dragons swim team. We're so excited as I think this is a really good fit for her. Her good friend Micah had swam for them previously and wanted to join up again so he was glad Clara wanted to as well. She had gone through all the levels at Foss Swim School and was contemplating taking lessons somewhere else when someone else had recommended Red Dragons and then Micah's mom reached out saying that Micah wanted to re-join and see if Clara was interested also.

Their level will practice twice per week and then have some meets as well.

On Thursday they were having a Halloween party. Most of the other swimmers were dressed in their costumes for a contest. Then they got down to their swim suits for the games.

The did a few relay races with pumpkins, skeleton parts and skulls. Ha. Clara had so much fun. And they were playing Halloween music on the speakers the whole time. (They practice at MSUM in their pool.)

Both girls have taken swim lessons through the Dragon Swim School there over the years. Once when Brynn was there for lessons, we put Clara in one of the lockers in the changing room. I told Clara to see if she could still fit into a locker now and she obliged me. ;)

This was the original pic. hehe.

Oh shoot, I just realized you could have used our canvas floaties to sleep on. Clara will love swimming again! Brynn is so thoughtful. ❤️

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Reagan Graduation + MDW + Tennis

This past weekend our oldest niece, Reagan, graduated high school. She will be attending UND for nursing in the fall. We're so proud of you and love you so much, Reagan!   Cousin Cayden had his Italian soda bar set up at the party which was super fun and a big hit. She opened a few gifts the night before her commencement. Reagan is the third generation to graduate from Harvey High as my mom and her dad, Chad also attended there. This was such a fun gift idea that Tessa put together from her and Chad. We got back home Sunday evening and between the four of us doing different things, spent most of Memorial Day outside. It was such beautiful weather. Brynn and I played tennis and Dana and Clara replaced some shrubs and did yardwork. The tennis season has wrapped up for Brynn now. She's sad to not be playing anymore, but still gets some court time between playing with friends and sometimes Clara and/or me. We're so proud of her and glad she played again this year. I had taken s...
