January Recap

Right before Christmas break was done, Brynn and  I went downtown to Nichole's for some graduation planning.

Making lefse!

Clara finished up her time in robotics league with a presentation of the robots and mission that she and her partner/friend, Elizabeth, had been working on.

Here's a video compilation of two of the missions they presented. It was so cool. I especially liked the one that picked up the rocks.

Some of Brynn's recent drawings.

Bedtime snuggles. đŸ’œ

I was messaging with Clara's teacher to see if he could let her know that Brynn would pick her up from school one of the very cold days last week. He wrote me back to confirm Clara received the message. I asked Clara when she got home if she wrote that last sentence. Haha.

Clara had her first swim meet on Saturday, which was a 'home meet,' hosted by Clara's team, the Red Dragons at Moorhead High School.

She was disgruntled about getting up at 7:00 am on a Saturday morning, but each team had specific time slots to warm up prior to start time.

She swam in three events, each 50 yards: freestyle, butterfly and breast stroke, I think. Dana took some video.

Brynn made her energy bites just for the meet. So sweet!

She had a really fun time and it was all very exciting. It's fun to spectate as everything moves along at a pretty fast pace. We had practice tonight where she learned she didn't place in any of her events, and she was pretty disappointed about that. But, I was glad she was able to get her first meet under her belt anyhow. She has her next meet on Sunday morning at Brynn's high school.

Great job, Clara! So sweet of Brynn to support her sister. Gradation plans? Don’t grow up so fast. đŸ˜¢

What a great post! I could go for some lefse right about now. I'm so glad for the videos of robotics and the swim meet! Our robotics team at the elementary is pretty new (second year, I think) and they are going to state this year so everyone is pretty jazzed about that. Wow, Brynn's drawings are amazing! She put her artistry to work getting the cousin camp logo ready for 2026! Haha, I love the note from Clara's teacher. How sweet of Brynn to fuel her up for her swim meet. I'll have to show Elise that Clara also likes to use a hair wrap for her wet hair :)

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Reagan Graduation + MDW + Tennis

This past weekend our oldest niece, Reagan, graduated high school. She will be attending UND for nursing in the fall. We're so proud of you and love you so much, Reagan!   Cousin Cayden had his Italian soda bar set up at the party which was super fun and a big hit. She opened a few gifts the night before her commencement. Reagan is the third generation to graduate from Harvey High as my mom and her dad, Chad also attended there. This was such a fun gift idea that Tessa put together from her and Chad. We got back home Sunday evening and between the four of us doing different things, spent most of Memorial Day outside. It was such beautiful weather. Brynn and I played tennis and Dana and Clara replaced some shrubs and did yardwork. The tennis season has wrapped up for Brynn now. She's sad to not be playing anymore, but still gets some court time between playing with friends and sometimes Clara and/or me. We're so proud of her and glad she played again this year. I had taken s...
