Fourth of July

We spent the Fourth at Dead Lake. It was a great day to be out on Wednesday. We stayed until Friday morning and Thursday, we just lazed around. This little neighbor girl was so cute. She and her brother came over for a bit while we were outside. The brother is Clara's age so they had a grand time playing in the sand together. Meanwhile, this little cutie glommed onto Brynn. She wanted Brynn to hold her and kept giving Brynn hugs. She must have sensed that Brynn is a good big sissy.

Schmeets Family Reunion

The day after Cousin Camp we attended a family reunion with my late grandpa's family on my mom's side. Our great uncle had a nice horse farm very near Anamoose, ND (which is very close to Harvey). My mom's first cousin lives in Harvey, but has done a beautiful job of maintaining the farm. It was a really nice day to get together and see a lot of relatives that we hadn't seen in quite a while and meet some new ones. We stopped to visit Grandma D before heading over to the reunion.  Brynn found the barn cats. One of our cousins set up some fun games for the kids. My great uncle had fashioned up this wagon back in the day to take kids to school. Of course it was pulled by a horse and didn't have tires. It was a pretty nice setup! Phyllis also put together this nice family tree. It was very interesting to place all the connections. Brynn kind of got herself stuck up on a tree.

Cousin Camp

Several weeks ago our invitation to Cousin Camp arrived from auntie, I mean, Counselor Tessa. They girls were pretty excited and even chatted with Tessa on the phone about what crafts we should do and what foods should be part of the food challenge. The girls and I went to camp early, arriving on Wednesday night, so that we could work on the campers' t-shirts. On our way, I stopped to fill gas in Carrington. Apparently Brynn waved at a police officer passing by and when I stopped at the station, the police officer gave both Brynn and Clara sticker badges. Campers arriving! We had a record attendance this year with 16 actual campers, not including baby campers who were with Grandma Wanda. We also had two more counselors, two of the cousin moms. :-) Getting acquainted and go over the camp rules and schedule for the afternoon/evening. Decorating their shirts. The campers had a snack, did some playing and swimming and before long...
