Farmer Family, Apples, Four-wheelers

I can't remember if I mentioned in one of my previous posts that one of the reasons I had our work drone home to practice with is because I had an upcoming work trip to visit one of our grower families for which I would be bringing along the drone, so I wanted to get as much practice in as possible before then. I thought I'd share a little about my trip here on the blog because I had such an amazing experience. I was also going to take photos of the family and the farming operation, along with the drone footage. So, hopefully it's not 'work' overload when typically this is our family blog. The farm is near Frederick, SD which was about 2 1/2 hours southwest of Fargo. I went down Wednesday afternoon. The whole original purpose of the trip/visit was to facilitate our customer and the film/production company that they had hired to do a story on our grower. This family is one of our organic black bean growers and this particular customer buys the black beans th...

New Toy, Gardening & Other Miscellany

I am going to be heading down to Frederick, SD this week to meet up with one of our grower families and our customer for work. I will be taking photos of the family and hopefully getting some video and photos with our drone too. So, I had it home last week so I could try get get more familiar with it. I made it take some pics of us. :-) Daddy took the day off work on Friday to go down to a snowmobile swap meet near Princeton, MN. He brought back a surprise for the girls. It's a nice little size for Brynn to drive and it is a manual, but she was doing pretty well getting used to shifting. Clara rode with Brynn for a bit and then got into her usual duty of shoveling out dead insects from the back garage. I think we were both a bit surprised when she encountered one that was still alive. Haha. She just cracks me up. Playing hair salon together on Saturday. They did the dishes together last night after supper. And tonight agai...

First Day of School

Tuesday night was back to school night where students were supposed to come and see who their teachers were going to be for the year and check out their classrooms, bring their supplies, etc. I did get a tip from one of Brynn's friends over the weekend that teacher assignments were showing up in PowerSchool (our online school system portal). So, we did find out earlier than Tuesday. Brynn was happy to learn she had Ms. Joy as she said she was hoping for a female teacher this year.  Ms. Joy actually taught fourth grade at Brynn's school last year and my co-worker's son had her for a teacher and requested her for fifth this year, so I had heard good things about her. When we arrived to their classroom, she informed the students that they could choose their own seat. They all seemed so caught off guard. Haha. Brynn found a seat next to a couple of girls whose names she recognized. Brynn got her supplies settled and worked on a worksheet that Ms. Joy had for the...
