Halloween 2016

Last Friday night was the Fall Festival at Centennial Elementary. By the time we finally headed over, we only had an hour before it was done. Brynn did a couple of games and then found her friend for Bingo. Clara had her costume on and came along too.

This game was really funny. It was dark in the room, so at first I thought the white things were marshmallows until I saw how dirty all the kids' faces were. Ha. They were powdered donuts.

Neither one of the girls was able to wear a costume to school/daycare, but I picked them up early for the usual trick-or-treating at my office. They had a lot fun there.

Most of the other kids

On our way home we stopped at Kevin and Wendy's house. Brynn opted to wait in the car as she didn't have her coat on or anything and it was already starting to get colder. I work with Kevin and Wendy is from around my home town and was actually in my sister's class.

Heading out! Rosha and Grandpa and Grandma Froemming came trick-or-treating with us again this year. I had dressed up as the Statue of Liberty for my work costume contest (I didn't win) and figured I'd better go out with my get-up on.

I feel like this was the theme of the night; just a blur! And Clara forever trying to keep up with the girls.

Clara somehow weaseled her way inside this person's house.

Another sucker!

I always love this house's decorations.

We were so grateful again this year for such nice weather.

Our next door neighbors.

We had just gone up and down our block and when we came back to our house Clara, Grandpa and I came in and Daddy, Grandma and the older girls kept going on down the other side of the block for a bit. Then Rosha and Brynn went with Rosha's dad to the mall again.

The girls were spoiled again with gifts from relatives (thank you, everyone!) Clara was surprised to see money in one of the cards she received and said, 'woooow!' when she opened it. Ha.

Clara getting into the Halloween spirit, 'scaring' Daddy:

We set our bowl of candy out when we were out trick-or-treating, but this was our total of ones that we could count when we were home. Definitely down from earlier years.

It was another successful and awesome Halloween! Clara told me when I was putting her to bed that she got 'much candy!' Indeed, they did!

Tonight Clara was reading to her baby doll. So sweet.

It looks like they had a great Halloween! What were their favorite treats?? I think it's so neat that your office does the trick-or-treating, looks so fun!

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Christmas 2025/New Years 2026

Christmas gift wrapping shenanigans: Keeping Brynn company while she wraps all of our Christmas gifts. Brynn and I couldn't help but peek at the 150 Famous Poems book we gave to Clara. So many good ones. Getting into the holiday spirit at Courts Plus. Ha! Christmas eve brunch. Clara's gingerbread house contest strategy notes. Contestants were allowed 20 minutes to shop for their houses at Wal-mart. We left ourselves little time to get ready for the 3:00 Christmas eve service at our church. But, we made it and thankfully didn't have to sit in the overflow area in the chapel! It was a beautiful service. We had bit more time in between church and when we planned to leave for Tessa's, so I mixed up my eggnog and we got the car packed. Tessa's family hosted Christmas eve at their lake home. We had a great mix of people to play a game of Mind the Gap. Getting cookies ready for Santa. Clara got Dana and me up around 7:30 and we watched her open her stocking. I think Dana a...
