Catch-up

I got involved in the United Way through work and volunteer for different events they host. Recently they were putting kits together for families who were getting into their own home for the first time. They asked for people to make tie blankets that they could include in these welcome home baskets. For some reason I thought it would be a good idea to donate FIVE tie blankets. Clearly I've never made one before. Not that they're difficult, but it just took more time than I had anticipated which always seems to be the case for things. After bending over cutting and tying, my neck still isn't straightened out. The girls helped a bit at least.

We've been in a crepe craze here for the past couple of weeks. Brynn learned how to make them herself now, so she whipped up a batch for an after-school snack one day. She likes to make a sort of strawberry compote to top them with. Mmm!

Clara brought our go-to teacher appreciation gift of a candy bouquet to her teacher last week.

And for H day in the ABC Countdown to the last day of school, they wore hats. Clara was doing some reading in 'Adventure Cat' during breakfast one morning.

My geranium was blooming again last week. I got this from Cookie Connie, as we affectionately call her at our house. She was the one who fulfilled my silent auction prize of a dozen cookies each month for a year that I had won at Farm and Family Night in Hurdsfield a year and a half ago. She commented on my birthday on Facebook that she wished she could give me some cookies for my birthday. 💜 I wished that too! Ha. She is so sweet and would always include a decorative plate or something extra, like this potted plant, in with the cookies.

Brynn was getting some snuggles in with our neighbor cat, Lucky.

Studying for a geography test one morning before school.

Clara and Dad were practicing riding without training wheels again. She went for a little ways on her own. By the time summer gets into full swing, she'll probably be a pro!

Mickey has been warming up more and letting Brynn hold him for longer periods of time. After his big escape over Easter, he has only gotten loose one other time.  He tried to join Brynn's sleepover she was having with her friend when he made his way into the fort they had put up.

Brynn's grade did a big career assessment in which it produced a report of the jobs Brynn would be best suited for based on her answers. One of the top results was a counselor/psychologist. She had originally planned to go into veterinary medicine, but now wants to pursue the counseling route. (And, yes, she does still have her Christmas tree up in her room.)

Dana's next house project is putting a fireplace in our living room. So excited!

Brynn made a yummy sundae for dessert tonight.

Lots going on! Great job on the tie blankets. I'm glad we got to be the beneficiaries of some of those crepes. Beautiful candy bouquet! Your geranium looks great. Go Clara! You'll be bike riding like nobody's business before you know it. I could totally see Brynn being a counselor, maybe even a school counselor!

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Reagan Graduation + MDW + Tennis

This past weekend our oldest niece, Reagan, graduated high school. She will be attending UND for nursing in the fall. We're so proud of you and love you so much, Reagan!   Cousin Cayden had his Italian soda bar set up at the party which was super fun and a big hit. She opened a few gifts the night before her commencement. Reagan is the third generation to graduate from Harvey High as my mom and her dad, Chad also attended there. This was such a fun gift idea that Tessa put together from her and Chad. We got back home Sunday evening and between the four of us doing different things, spent most of Memorial Day outside. It was such beautiful weather. Brynn and I played tennis and Dana and Clara replaced some shrubs and did yardwork. The tennis season has wrapped up for Brynn now. She's sad to not be playing anymore, but still gets some court time between playing with friends and sometimes Clara and/or me. We're so proud of her and glad she played again this year. I had taken s...
