Grandpa's Retirement + Soccer
We're in the home stretch to summer break! Clara's teacher is doing an ABC Countdown in their classroom with something fun planned for each day until the end of the school year, which is on June 3 for both girls. Clara is already having so much fun with each day's theme and can't wait for P day when they get to wear their PJs to school and make and eat pancakes in class."
Clara gathered a dandelion bouquet after school that she carefully brought home on the bus on Friday. She got them into some water for a nice table centerpiece.
We signed up to bring treats for yesterday's soccer game so we made monster cookie energy bites and banana chocolate chips muffins. (Photo cred: Brynn)
I am so glad I quickly grabbed my phone when I saw Clara heading outside to share a package of Reese's Pieces with Dad. 💜
Friday night we surprised my dad with a retirement celebration dinner at Porter Creek. It was such a fun evening out with everyone. Congrats, Dad!
Tessa and the kids stayed overnight with us and came to Clara's Saturday soccer game while Elise attended a babysitting class. It was so hot already by 10:00 AM; we were all sweating!
Tessa took Reagan and Brynn shopping while the younger kids hung out at our house. They had so much fun playing together.
Today was already the last day of Sunday school for this year. The kids had fun making some crafts, playing games, singing songs and having a bubble dance party to celebrate everyone's birthdays.
Clara will be going to Vacation Bible Xperience at the beginning of June and Brynn is old enough to volunteer to help this year. The theme is Jolly Ranch and they are both so excited already.
Our first deck date of the season. No bugs yet, but it started to get a little chilly so we didn't last too long.
Clara had another soccer game today which was a gorgeous day for soccer.
Clara's cheering section, including her #1 fan in seclusion under a blanket. :-) Brynnie said she needed shade. Thank you to everyone who has come to watch Clara play soccer! It's so much fun and she is really enjoying playing.
A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.) They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...
The girls had Thursday, Friday and Monday off from school for the Easter break. So, Dana and I took most of the same time off (work) to match. Always reading. 💜 Hanging out with Brynn. 💗 Dana and I went on a Costco date. We tried our hand at homemade ravioli again. I think it went a bit more smoothly compared to last time. Hubert's sister Abby stopped by for a visit. We hadn't seen her in a long time and so it was fun to have her We celebrated Dana's birthday and kicked it off with some Sandy's donuts. I don't recall what was so funny. haha. Clara's card. Birthday King Clara dyed eggs. I baked a birthday cake for Dana, messed it up getting it out of the pans, and Clara somehow cobbled it together into a masterpiece. Dana chose Lucky 13's for dinner out. On Saturday we packed up to hit up Oliver's birthday party before we went on to Dead Lake for Easter. Oliver is 9! We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family. We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...
