Fourth of July 2023

Last Thursday night went to the OK Tire Car Show in the Walmart parking lot. We found Brynn's Jag. ;-)

Dana even had the '51 entered!'

Brynn was practicing driving and we pulled off onto a low maintenance road to watch the sunset and some fireworks.

Clara decided she still wasn't homesick yet when Grandpa was coming through Fargo to go to the lake last week, so she carried on with him to Lake Park. They didn't have very good luck fishing, unfortunately, but Clara still had a good time.

She was finally ready to come home on Saturday so I went out and visited with Dad a bit and brought Clara back home.

Sunday it seemed it was going to be a rainy day so we settled in with our books. Dana and Brynn had gone to Dead Lake.

But then the day turned around and we decided to go walk the trails in Lindenwood Park.

We were having a good time until we came out of the forest and thought we would be right near our car - like a loop around the river is what I had envisioned. Instead we popped right out into a residential neighborhood about a mile and a half from where we were supposed to be. :( It wouldn't have been so bad if we hadn't just walked the trail for over an hour. I was doing ok, but it was getting pretty warm and Clara's legs were tired. Thanks to Google maps, though, we pressed on. Clara was a trooper and we made it back to our car just fine.

This photo of Brynn nine years ago was my Facebook memory photo from today.

We spend the Fourth at Tamarac with the Weckerlys again this year. It was raining most of the morning so we visited and played games until it cleared up and the sun came out.

Brynn did a life jacket challenge and ended up wearing 20 life jackets. Ha - it was quite entertaining.

Due to the rain the boat parade was moved to the afternoon instead of the usual morning time. Elise was lady liberty, Brynn was Betsy Ross, Ben: Uncle Sam and Reagan was Rosie the Riveter. They were great and won one of the best float prizes.

The annual photo op. 💜

We had another super fun Fourth! Happy birthday, America.

Christmas 2025/New Years 2026

Christmas gift wrapping shenanigans: Keeping Brynn company while she wraps all of our Christmas gifts. Brynn and I couldn't help but peek at the 150 Famous Poems book we gave to Clara. So many good ones. Getting into the holiday spirit at Courts Plus. Ha! Christmas eve brunch. Clara's gingerbread house contest strategy notes. Contestants were allowed 20 minutes to shop for their houses at Wal-mart. We left ourselves little time to get ready for the 3:00 Christmas eve service at our church. But, we made it and thankfully didn't have to sit in the overflow area in the chapel! It was a beautiful service. We had bit more time in between church and when we planned to leave for Tessa's, so I mixed up my eggnog and we got the car packed. Tessa's family hosted Christmas eve at their lake home. We had a great mix of people to play a game of Mind the Gap. Getting cookies ready for Santa. Clara got Dana and me up around 7:30 and we watched her open her stocking. I think Dana a...

Halloween 2025

Happy Halloween! We did trick-or-treating at my office again and celebrated National Cat Day a couple of days late. Unicorn making magic happen! The kids and Freddy. We got a little bit of a late start around 7:30. We went to a neighborhood near the high school where several of Clara's friends live. We stopped at Micah's house to say hi and another schoolmate happened to be over as well. We got to visiting too long and by the time we headed back out, some houses either had run out of candy (including Micah's, where they went through 600 pieces his mom said) or were already done for the night. But, we still got around to several. It had just gotten done raining and the wind was cold, so I didn't care to be out too long myself. Clara asked to have another post-Halloween party this year and Brynn planned and executed the whole thing. One of our fav parts was the missing children posters which were all the guests. Green Army Man, Clara Barton, Luna Lovegood (from Harry Pott...

September

When Brynn was in 8th grade, their class wrote letters to themselves that they would open once they were seniors. School staff must have sent them right to the high school for safe keeping because a few weeks ago, Brynn got hers back and read through it.    I had perfect weather for visiting a grower with my drone for work last month. Clara spent a night at Grandpa and Grandma Dietz's and did all sorts of activities. Family walk! Brynn ran into this bunch shopping at the mall. 😄 I was so tickled to get this pic from auntie - as much as Brynn was to bump into them. This nomad cat has been showing up around our cul-de-sac, but he does not like me, unfortunately. :-( His tag even says that he's not lost, he just likes to roam. Ha. (I only know that because he actually let our neighbor catch him.) Clara and I have been going to some Davies football games while it's been so nice out. Brynn has been accepted at both NDSU and UND. Yay! We visit UND next Friday, so it will be inte...
