Tiny Dancer

This weekend was a big weekend for Brynn. Sunday she started Sunday School for the first time. It sure was weird being in church without her! She had no problems with us leaving her for her class and was busy coloring when we came back for her. And she even got a snack, so she was pretty excited about that. I think she'll enjoy Sunday School.

Then later in the day we attended Brynn's great-great grandma's funeral visitation (Dana's great-grandma) and her funeral and burial today. Brynn had never been to a funeral before, so in true Brynn fashion, there were lots of questions. I think she knows all there is to know about funerals now. She did very well, though. We'll miss great-grandma very much, but have much peace knowing she has gone home after 102 long years!

Tonight was Brynn's first dance class. It's a pre-school introductory dance class, so she is learning ballet, hip-hop and tap. We even had to buy the tap and ballet shoes, leotards and tights. So, I have been nervous because she has not seemed excited to go. I don't want to push her into something she doesn't want to do, but dance seemed like something she could really get into. I had at least wanted her to give it a try. Of course she was in tears when we were getting her dressed and ready to go to class. She was longer crying, but did not look happy when I dropped her off at the dance studio. The instructor just picked her up and carried her into the studio room. She sat there with the look on her face that said, "I'm here, but I don't like it." So, I left and hoped for the best. I came back to get her just in time for her to come out into the entryway with a huge smile on her face. I was so relieved. She said she really liked it and got her tap shoes back on when we got home and showed us what she learned. She didn't want to take off her leotard and tights. But, she says she's not going back next week. :-)
Showing us her moves.

We cannot just take a normal photo. :-)

I'm glad to hear she liked Sunday School and dance! I'm sure she will get more excited to go to dance after being there a few times. It sounds like she did have fun. I can't wait to see her moves!

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Christmas 2025/New Years 2026

Christmas gift wrapping shenanigans: Keeping Brynn company while she wraps all of our Christmas gifts. Brynn and I couldn't help but peek at the 150 Famous Poems book we gave to Clara. So many good ones. Getting into the holiday spirit at Courts Plus. Ha! Christmas eve brunch. Clara's gingerbread house contest strategy notes. Contestants were allowed 20 minutes to shop for their houses at Wal-mart. We left ourselves little time to get ready for the 3:00 Christmas eve service at our church. But, we made it and thankfully didn't have to sit in the overflow area in the chapel! It was a beautiful service. We had bit more time in between church and when we planned to leave for Tessa's, so I mixed up my eggnog and we got the car packed. Tessa's family hosted Christmas eve at their lake home. We had a great mix of people to play a game of Mind the Gap. Getting cookies ready for Santa. Clara got Dana and me up around 7:30 and we watched her open her stocking. I think Dana a...
