Christmas Programs, Holiday Baking and more

Brynn has been busy as usual this Christmas season. She has been helping wrap gifts and these past few days have been busy with Christmas programs, gymnastics, holiday baking and fun grandparent time.

Saturday Grandma Laurie came and we started off the holiday baking with Krumkaka. (You will notice several wardrobe changes over the course of our two-day baking extravaganza, each one equally as interesting!)

Learning from the master.

No one would take a normal picture with me.

Sunday Brynn had her Sunday School program where they sang two songs. Papa Kevin and Grandma Holly were able to come watch her sing again this year, too. There were so many kids up there! She is in a white shrug, middle toward the bottom.

Holiday baking resumed Sunday afternoon.

Monday night was the last night of gymnastics for this session. They will break now and start up again for the next round in January. I always forget when the last day is of each session and thus never have my camera with me, so these are taken with Dana's phone. They go up on this podium block and do their 'ta-da!' and receive a ribbon. Grandma Laurie was able to come watch gymnastics, too.

Tuesday night was the Christmas program at preschool. Grandma Laurie decided to stay one more day so she could see Brynn at this program, too. They had been practicing their songs hard each day! The girl to the left of Brynn is her gymnastics friend, Hailey.

Brynn and her friend Rosha.
She lives near us and she and Brynn  meet up to play in the park a lot during the warmer times of year.

After the singing portion, we went and made a wreath craft together and they got to decorate cookies.

The three ladies on the left are some of Brynn's preschool teachers.
The little girl is Rosha and the other lady on the far right is Rosha's mom.

After the program at preschool, we headed over to the mall for supper and so Brynn could visit Santa. She had quite the conversation with him, of course. She told him she wanted an ornament for Christmas. Then on our way out of the mall, we had to stop at the Salvation Army kettle and make our donation, and Brynn even got to ring the bell for a minute.

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Halloween 2025

Happy Halloween! We did trick-or-treating at my office again and celebrated National Cat Day a couple of days late. Unicorn making magic happen! The kids and Freddy. We got a little bit of a late start around 7:30. We went to a neighborhood near the high school where several of Clara's friends live. We stopped at Micah's house to say hi and another schoolmate happened to be over as well. We got to visiting too long and by the time we headed back out, some houses either had run out of candy (including Micah's, where they went through 600 pieces his mom said) or were already done for the night. But, we still got around to several. It had just gotten done raining and the wind was cold, so I didn't care to be out too long myself. Clara asked to have another post-Halloween party this year and Brynn planned and executed the whole thing. One of our fav parts was the missing children posters which were all the guests. Green Army Man, Clara Barton, Luna Lovegood (from Harry Pott...

Christmas 2025/New Years 2026

Christmas gift wrapping shenanigans: Keeping Brynn company while she wraps all of our Christmas gifts. Brynn and I couldn't help but peek at the 150 Famous Poems book we gave to Clara. So many good ones. Getting into the holiday spirit at Courts Plus. Ha! Christmas eve brunch. Clara's gingerbread house contest strategy notes. Contestants were allowed 20 minutes to shop for their houses at Wal-mart. We left ourselves little time to get ready for the 3:00 Christmas eve service at our church. But, we made it and thankfully didn't have to sit in the overflow area in the chapel! It was a beautiful service. We had bit more time in between church and when we planned to leave for Tessa's, so I mixed up my eggnog and we got the car packed. Tessa's family hosted Christmas eve at their lake home. We had a great mix of people to play a game of Mind the Gap. Getting cookies ready for Santa. Clara got Dana and me up around 7:30 and we watched her open her stocking. I think Dana a...
