Butterfly Ball

Yesterday Brynn and Dana attending the Butterfly Ball again. This year Brynn asked if I would do her hair instead of going to the salon. I'm not the best at doing hair, but she was happy with how it turned out.

Last year I missed out on getting a picture of her applying her lip gloss in the mirror, so this time I made sure to have my camera ready. I was so glad I did; they are my favorite pics from the night. It's just so Brynnie to be making sure her lip gloss is on just right.

Daddy said he would take her out to eat; anywhere she wanted to go...even pasta! For many days leading up the ball, she had decided on McDonald's (or MichaelDonald's as she still calls it). At the last minute, though, she changed her mind to Subway. So, that's where they went.

They had a great time again and she hardly got in the door before she started telling me about their night. They played all her favorite songs, and she told me she made a couple friends.

I told her today that I was glad she had such a good time and she looked so pretty last night. And I mentioned how I almost got emotional right before they left and she asked me if it was because I didn't get to go with, too. Ha.

Oh, and  yes, that is the same dress as she wore last year. I am really getting my money's worth out of this thing. She has worn it to every wedding she's been to since I bought it, and now to two Butterfly Balls.

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Reagan Graduation + MDW + Tennis

This past weekend our oldest niece, Reagan, graduated high school. She will be attending UND for nursing in the fall. We're so proud of you and love you so much, Reagan!   Cousin Cayden had his Italian soda bar set up at the party which was super fun and a big hit. She opened a few gifts the night before her commencement. Reagan is the third generation to graduate from Harvey High as my mom and her dad, Chad also attended there. This was such a fun gift idea that Tessa put together from her and Chad. We got back home Sunday evening and between the four of us doing different things, spent most of Memorial Day outside. It was such beautiful weather. Brynn and I played tennis and Dana and Clara replaced some shrubs and did yardwork. The tennis season has wrapped up for Brynn now. She's sad to not be playing anymore, but still gets some court time between playing with friends and sometimes Clara and/or me. We're so proud of her and glad she played again this year. I had taken s...
