Butterfly Ball

It was time for the Butterfly Ball again this past weekend. Brynn wanted me to make an appointment to get her hair done, rather than me attempting it. Wise choice. She was pretty happy with how it turned out, and it did look really cute on her. The stylist was going to try and make a smooth bun, but Brynn had too much hair to make that work, I guess, so she just did a curly one instead.

Here is the handsome couple, ready to head out. Brynn chose McDonald's for her restaurant of choice before the dance.

Brynn's friend, Haylie, and her dad also went last night. So, that was fun for Brynn to have another friend there.

I stayed behind with this little monkey. Brynn has recently taken to showers rather than baths, so I put Clara back in the sink. She loves it in there and it's just right for her it seems, at least right now anyway. She sure loves to splash, though.

Brynn has been practicing her piano a lot, especially lately. That is because she was working toward 1000 minutes of practice time. When one of Penny's piano students hits the 1000-minute mark, they receive the first statue in a line-up of composers. The first one is Bach. Brynn knew she was getting close and finally brought him home after her lesson on Friday night. We were very proud of her and she was so excited. I asked her if I could take a picture of her with the statue and she made this sign to go with it.

Brynn was talking to Daddy about a 3-D book that she brought home from the library and I think that spurred a discussion about Dad's job and how he makes 3-D drawings on his computer. He must have happened to bring home his work laptop this weekend, so he was showing her what he does at work and let her play around a little bit. She thought it was pretty neat.

Well, we sure had a busy day today with Brynn engineering, practicing piano, playing outside and then she wanted to bake some brownies. So, we did that, too, and little sister helped.

It's common knowledge around here how ticklish Clara is. Here's the proof: Clara Tickles. And proof of how wild she is. :-) Not sure why my video ended up in such poor quality. Sorry about that!

Such happy girls! Proud of you Brynnie with your Bach achievement and you looked beautiful for the ball! Can't wait to squeeze Clara again - wow is she ever growing. Such a sweetie. I can see Brynnie as an engineer . . .

Oh, love babies in the sink! Ha. So sweet to see Brynn learning all about what Daddy does. Congrats on all your practice time!

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Christmas 2025/New Years 2026

Christmas gift wrapping shenanigans: Keeping Brynn company while she wraps all of our Christmas gifts. Brynn and I couldn't help but peek at the 150 Famous Poems book we gave to Clara. So many good ones. Getting into the holiday spirit at Courts Plus. Ha! Christmas eve brunch. Clara's gingerbread house contest strategy notes. Contestants were allowed 20 minutes to shop for their houses at Wal-mart. We left ourselves little time to get ready for the 3:00 Christmas eve service at our church. But, we made it and thankfully didn't have to sit in the overflow area in the chapel! It was a beautiful service. We had bit more time in between church and when we planned to leave for Tessa's, so I mixed up my eggnog and we got the car packed. Tessa's family hosted Christmas eve at their lake home. We had a great mix of people to play a game of Mind the Gap. Getting cookies ready for Santa. Clara got Dana and me up around 7:30 and we watched her open her stocking. I think Dana a...
