Best Buddies, Santa, Reagan's 9th Birthday Party

On Friday my office had our Ugly Sweater Contest and a Scandinavian-themed potluck with Swedish meatballs, lefse, krumkake, rosettes and potatoes. It was all so delicious. My mom and dad stopped by for a visit in the afternoon to check out my office that I just moved into from my old cubicle.

These two. Brynn and I made chocolate chip muffins on Saturday morning, and Brynn could not wait for Daddy to wake up so she could give him her muffin note.

Yes, they pretty much are the same person...right down to the same smile.

Then Brynn and Dad went out to finish Christmas shopping which wasn't complete without lunch at McDonald's. Brynn spent a gift card she had to Barnes and Noble and got a bracelet making kit. They worked on that together after they got back home.

Clara doesn't want to be left out, of course.

Then Brynn wanted to sew with Dad, who coincidentally is much better at it than I am. This is Auntie Christel's old machine.

Last night we ran to the mall and had to stop and visit Santa. Brynn asked him for an American Girl doll. Santa told Brynn where the nearest American Girl doll stores were, just for her information, and that they can make ones to look just like you! Thanks, Santa. Not sure what Clara is wishing for this Christmas. She did visit with Santa a bit, though. This Santa visit was after she was licking all the mirrors in the men's suit department at Macy's and before she stuck her arm in the toilet when we got home. She keeps us on our toes!

Clara had a bit of a rough week with an ear infection and bronchiolitis, so just Brynn and I traveled West to celebrate cousin Reagan's 9th birthday today. She had a fantastic rainbow-themed birthday party! Happy 9th, Reagan! We love you!

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Halloween 2025

Happy Halloween! We did trick-or-treating at my office again and celebrated National Cat Day a couple of days late. Unicorn making magic happen! The kids and Freddy. We got a little bit of a late start around 7:30. We went to a neighborhood near the high school where several of Clara's friends live. We stopped at Micah's house to say hi and another schoolmate happened to be over as well. We got to visiting too long and by the time we headed back out, some houses either had run out of candy (including Micah's, where they went through 600 pieces his mom said) or were already done for the night. But, we still got around to several. It had just gotten done raining and the wind was cold, so I didn't care to be out too long myself. Clara asked to have another post-Halloween party this year and Brynn planned and executed the whole thing. One of our fav parts was the missing children posters which were all the guests. Green Army Man, Clara Barton, Luna Lovegood (from Harry Pott...
