Peformances

We have been busy, busy leading into Christmas! Brynn had three performances this week. Here is the recap!

I had forgotten to post this one last time from when we ate out with my parents at our fav Chinese restaurant, Lucy's. Clara was in full fledged social mode and struck up a conversation with a nearby table.

For school Brynn is assigned to read 20 minutes each night. She is super into the Junie B Jones book series right now and sometimes asks if she can read aloud to me for her 20 minutes. Junie B books are pretty comical with lots of antics from Junie B and Brynn reads it just how you'd imagine June B talking, so it's fun to listen to her. The other night she was getting pretty interactive with her reading and was acting out some of what she was reading.

Tuesday was the HopeKids After School Program concert. Brynn was NOT looking forward to this one at all for whatever reason. Clara was excited though. As soon as she saw Brynn up there, she was furiously waving to her and repeating, "hi, hi!" Ha, it was so cute. They made it through their songs and then we went out to eat at Village Inn. You can tell from the pics that she is less than enthused.

Friday night we finally made it on our annual holiday lights tour. You can see Brynn with her Santa hat on behind me. She brought her Christmas piano book with and was serenading us with holiday tunes.

Saturday the grandparents joined us for Brynn's piano recital at Miss Penny's house. Brynn is taught in a group lesson format now, versus just one-on-one lessons. Her partner is the one sitting across from her. They played "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" with another twosome group. It sounded fantastic and all the kids did such a great job. It was fun to listen to everyone's pieces.

Grandma Holly & Papa Kevin stayed with us Saturday so they could come to see Brynn sing in church this morning. They babysat for us while Dana and I went out to a new comedy club downtown and out for a slice of pizza afterward. Thanks, Grandpa & Grandma!

Brynn was pretty nervous about this performance and Daddy gave her an encouraging pep talk before we left for church this morning. She did so well, though. She didn't look nervous or unhappy to be up there at all.

Thank you to both sets of grandparents for attending the performances this weekend!

Visiting with Mom and waiting for Rosha to come play today.

Rosha brought a game with that she had made up using her classmates' class photos. They did make it outside for a bit too.

The next pianist in the family.

Fataneh, Rosha's mom, brought us a homemade dessert which was a saffron pudding of sorts. Brynn was curious to try it, but Dana said it was really good.

Brynn's drawing of the cover of this book.

Doing her 20 minutes tonight.

Great pictures! Love Brynn's dress at the piano recital? Any video of her playing? Mom said it was great. Looks like she enjoyed being in the program at church this morning. I want to squeeze Clara in that photo of her at the keyboard :)

Great job, Brynn! Love to watch the girls. Mommy and Daddy need a break, too.

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Reagan Graduation + MDW + Tennis

This past weekend our oldest niece, Reagan, graduated high school. She will be attending UND for nursing in the fall. We're so proud of you and love you so much, Reagan!   Cousin Cayden had his Italian soda bar set up at the party which was super fun and a big hit. She opened a few gifts the night before her commencement. Reagan is the third generation to graduate from Harvey High as my mom and her dad, Chad also attended there. This was such a fun gift idea that Tessa put together from her and Chad. We got back home Sunday evening and between the four of us doing different things, spent most of Memorial Day outside. It was such beautiful weather. Brynn and I played tennis and Dana and Clara replaced some shrubs and did yardwork. The tennis season has wrapped up for Brynn now. She's sad to not be playing anymore, but still gets some court time between playing with friends and sometimes Clara and/or me. We're so proud of her and glad she played again this year. I had taken s...
