School's out!

School is finally out for Fargo public kids! Brynn was very excited for the last day today, though she had a really good year and liked her teacher quite a bit. First and last day of school. I guess she really likes that shirt. :-) We had to go out for an ice cream treat to celebrate summer vacay. I told Dana just tonight as Clara was climbing the chain link garden fence that we're going to have to watch out for this wild one. Haha. Brynn received the yearbook we had ordered for her. The students submit their designs for the cover and then one student's design is chosen as shown below. The inside cover included other students' submissions one of which was Brynn's! (Hers is the one that says "Centennial Cubs" in red letters.) She was tickled to see her entry still made it into the yearbook. We weren't sure if these were the next chosen submissions or just randomly pulled into the yearbook. Brynn has been choosing to believe th

Memorial Weekend

Saturday morning snuggles while waiting for the rest of the fam to get up to go to the lake.  More sleepiness. Clara wanted to play inside on Saturday at my parents' lake while everyone was outside. I had asked her a couple of times if she wanted to go back out with everyone else, but she said she didn't want to. Before too long, she crawled up on the couch to lie next to me and before I knew it, we had both fallen asleep. Meanwhile, Brynn and Reagan were having fun swimming off the pontoon in the middle of the lake. Time for s'mores! The girls were trying to get some last-minute fishing in before it was time to call it a night. Sunday morning we headed from Lake 15 over to Dead Lake to spend the day with Dana's parents. Clara covered herself up and declared that she was 'already tired.' She didn't fall asleep on Sunday at all, but instead went fishing with the guys. The girls stayed behind at the lake and Dana and

Rhubarb Shop

As part of our landscaping around the house there were a few rhubarb plants already here when we bought the house. I was actually pretty excited because I love rhubarb. These two were happy to help me do some weeding and (finally) pick the rhubarb last Sunday. It was quickly warming up as we were out there and climbed to 70 degrees by noon. We had so much rhubarb. I couldn't even keep most of it as I had waited too long to pick it and it was going to seed. I am the only one in the house who likes rhubarb. More for me, I guess! The girls like to play with it though. Here they are in their Rhubarb Shop they set up as Brynn explains in the video below this picture.(not sure what Clara's problem was here). The first thing I made with the rhubarb was muffins. I thought they turned out pretty well, but of course I was the only one eating them. :-/  Tonight I made a beloved fav of mine: rhubarb dessert. I loved it so much growing up that's what I cho

Orchard Pics

It could not have been a nicer evening yesterday to go take some pics in the orchard not too far down the road from our house.
