Rhubarb Shop

As part of our landscaping around the house there were a few rhubarb plants already here when we bought the house. I was actually pretty excited because I love rhubarb. These two were happy to help me do some weeding and (finally) pick the rhubarb last Sunday.

It was quickly warming up as we were out there and climbed to 70 degrees by noon.
We had so much rhubarb. I couldn't even keep most of it as I had waited too long to pick it and it was going to seed.

I am the only one in the house who likes rhubarb. More for me, I guess! The girls like to play with it though. Here they are in their Rhubarb Shop they set up as Brynn explains in the video below this picture.(not sure what Clara's problem was here).

The first thing I made with the rhubarb was muffins. I thought they turned out pretty well, but of course I was the only one eating them. :-/  Tonight I made a beloved fav of mine: rhubarb dessert. I loved it so much growing up that's what I chose for my birthday treat over cake one year.

Two silly mermaids.

We're ready for summer!  During dinner one night we made our summer bucket list. I just realized when I took this pic that Brynn wrote  "ride down the river," but failed to note one important word. Ride TO the river. :-) Brynn isn't done with school until next Thursday.

Flashback Friday pic. Our neighbors gave this picture of our house in 1997 to Dana. They were just working on the yard it looks like.

Tonight I took the girls with me to get our nails done. Clara opted for just her toes because she wants to be able to suck on her thumb and typically asks me to leave it unpolished if I am painting her nails. I think she must have thought she would forgo the whole deal to ensure her thumbs didn't get painted. Oh, Clara. She did let the guy know that once she turns four, she isn't going to suck her thumb anymore. ;-) I asked Brynn for a picture of her nails, but didn't end up with one. She opted for the opposite of Clara and got just her fingernails painted.

They painted little flower designs on Clara's big toes.

Tomorrow we are heading to the lakes for a couple of days and on Monday are prepping for our kitchen cabinet project. We are having them painted with new door fronts and drawers. Can't wait!

Happy Memorial weekend.

Great perspective on that shot of Clara's toes! I'm so jealous of all your rhubarb! Although I did discover that one of my plants survived, so I have the one on the west side of the house. Looks like some fun items on the Froem Summer Bucket List!

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Reagan Graduation + MDW + Tennis

This past weekend our oldest niece, Reagan, graduated high school. She will be attending UND for nursing in the fall. We're so proud of you and love you so much, Reagan!   Cousin Cayden had his Italian soda bar set up at the party which was super fun and a big hit. She opened a few gifts the night before her commencement. Reagan is the third generation to graduate from Harvey High as my mom and her dad, Chad also attended there. This was such a fun gift idea that Tessa put together from her and Chad. We got back home Sunday evening and between the four of us doing different things, spent most of Memorial Day outside. It was such beautiful weather. Brynn and I played tennis and Dana and Clara replaced some shrubs and did yardwork. The tennis season has wrapped up for Brynn now. She's sad to not be playing anymore, but still gets some court time between playing with friends and sometimes Clara and/or me. We're so proud of her and glad she played again this year. I had taken s...
