Fall

The week after I had come back from my Vegas work trip, Dana had to go to Wisconsin for training. I usually get up and go to the gym before everyone wakes up and then Clara gets up to eat breakfast with me around the time that I get home. I didn't want her to worry, though, if neither Dad nor I was upstairs if she woke up before I got back, so I told her she could go snuggle with Brynn if that was the case. Well, one of the mornings I got up and went past her room and didn't see her in it. Here she had already gotten up and moved down to Brynn's room. Ha. I have no idea what time of night it was that she went down there. It was so sweet how they were snuggled in sleeping together.

Speaking of me being gone, when I had returned from my trip, I noticed this sticky note Clara had written...well, written me out of the family, is what it looked like to me! So, I asked her why my name was crossed off and she said because I wasn't here. And I asked her if she didn't think I was coming back or what, to which she replied, 'no.' :-( Yikes!

She's not always such a morning person. :-)

Saying prayers one night before bed. Tonight we had finished up eating and she hadn't cleaned up her dinner plate and such and had another mess to clean up as well. (I thought) she said, I'm going to play," and we told her no, she wasn't because she had to clean up her stuff first. And I think she said, 'no,' which is a little unlike her to just plain refuse to do what we're asking. So, then she says, 'No! I said PRAY. You know, like talk to God!?" hahaha. So, off she went then.

Brynn's sixth grade school pictures turned out great, I thought! Except for that she looks so old!

Clara and her bestest friend at school. They are so funny together.

Brynn had a school friend spend the night last Friday night. Brynn and Clara had made these monster chocolate bars that Brynn is holding earlier in the week, so Brynn was having one for dessert.

After Brynn's friend went back home, we headed over to Rheault Farm for the Fall in Fargo event...which used to be called the fall festival.

There was a thankful tree as well so the girls wrote on the leaves what they were thankful for.

If you can't read Clara's it says 'my family.' Well, that's what she meant, I think; it actually says 'family my.' :-)

We could only spend so long at Rheault Farm because Clara had a birthday party to attend later in the afternoon. She was able to take a cupcake for the road and the mom of the birthday boy even sent one home for Brynn too. So, they enjoyed those on Sunday after lunch.

School has been going pretty well for Brynn. It seems to be an adjustment and transition for her as she is getting used to juggling separate classes and teachers and working to stay organized. She is typically working on something for school every day whether it's math homework, reading or lately it was a language arts project. They were to put together a book recommendation with accompanying photos and such. Brynn's book was 'Holes.' She did a great job writing her recommendation.

I thought she was pretty well done with having used the pictures and all, but then I came home one day and she had put together a 3-D model too. It turned out great. Hopefully she'll get a good grade for all her hard work.

There is a movie version of 'Holes' as well, so Dana and Brynn watched that tonight.

Clara was helping Dad out in the garage one night this past week.

We ran to Walmart and she asked me to take her picture with the ICEE polar bear.

Brynn hand-sewed Clara a pocket in her Family and Consumer Sciences class. It was so sweet and Clara loved it.

I am part of a mile-per-day walking challenge at work. Brynn always wants to come to Courts Plus with me. One night this past week I hadn't gotten my mile in and so we quickly went to Courts to do it together. She was trying to keep up with me and ended up sprinting at 8 miles per hour to do so. (She was kind of messing around, going slower and faster and then realized she could watch live TV right on the treadmill, so she got a little behind me.) I thought her legs were going to fly off! Haha. She said at school that they aren't allowed to go over 6 miles per hour. For good reason, I think! She did catch up to me. :-)

I can't remember if I mentioned before on here that we are headed to Disney World in four days! The girls are super excited and Brynn is especially so for Harry Potter World at Universal Studios. This time we're going with Dana's sister and her husband. We had talked about doing a countdown chain or something, but then never seemed to get around to it. Brynn wanted me to make a puzzle with the same number of pieces as the number of days until we leave. I finally got around to that tonight, but it's not going to be a very challenging puzzle with only four days to go. Oops!

Always fun at Rheault Farm! Looks like Brynn & her friend had fun. Her school picture turned out so great. And I love to see pics of Clara at school, too!

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Easter + April Birthdays

The girls had Thursday, Friday and Monday off from school for the Easter break. So, Dana and I took most of the same time off (work) to match.  Always reading. 💜 Hanging out with Brynn. 💗 Dana and I went on a Costco date. We tried our hand at homemade ravioli again. I think it went a bit more smoothly compared to last time. Hubert's sister Abby stopped by for a visit. We hadn't seen her in a long time and so it was fun to have her We celebrated Dana's birthday and kicked it off with some Sandy's donuts. I don't recall what was so funny. haha. Clara's card. Birthday King Clara dyed eggs. I baked a birthday cake for Dana, messed it up getting it out of the pans, and Clara somehow cobbled it together into a masterpiece. Dana chose Lucky 13's for dinner out. On Saturday we packed up to hit up Oliver's birthday party before we went on to Dead Lake for Easter. Oliver is 9! January + Valentine's Day + CATS!

We ARE still alive over here and have not frozen to death. Here's what we've been up to for the past month and a half! Brynn and Hubert at the OG (Olive Garden): 'Lady and the Tramp' style. haha. Taking in a Force game...with extra fighting. It was very exciting. One Sunday when Clara was at a sleepover, the three of us went to Black Coffee Waffle Bar after church and then for some crepes and boba at Tea & Crepe. Then Brynn and I went prom dress shopping which was really fun. She did find a dress she loves so that was a relief. This is not the one she chose, but she tried on quite a few nice ones. Clara made crowns for the king and I (me). Clara had to write an essay to be considered for the robotics team at school. She waited for at least a couple of weeks to learn if she was accepted, and unfortunately was not. She was pretty disappointed, but she does have a chance to reapply next year when she's a fifth grader, and won't have to write another essay. I th...
