Programs + Bonanzaville

Whew! I feel like I have a lot of catching up to do on the old blog here.

The first holiday program of the season was Brynn's choir concert. This was just the sixth grade performing and they sounded fantastic. It was really fun to listen to them.

Last Friday night we met my parents at Jimmy's Pizza in Hawley for some delish pizza and trivia. It was just general trivia for seven rounds. We nailed many questions, but had no clue on several as well. I think we ended up at fourth place, without a prize, but it was still super fun. They are having another trivia geared just for kids on December 30th, so the girls want to come back for that.

Clara wasn't as much for the trivia, but she did make a friend and stayed busy playing with him most of the time.

We got home kinda late. Oops!

Clara was still up with Daddy the next morning to help him make coffee though.

I had seen in The Forum that Bonanzaville was having a Christmas on the Prairie with a Santa visit and other activities, so we took that in on Saturday afternoon.

They had the museum portion open for visitors, so after we scored some hot chocolate, we made our way through some of the exhibits.

It was all really interesting. I hadn't known about this great fire Fargo had back in 1893. I even learned that we used to have an opera house back then which they did not rebuild after the fire.

Crafts!

Roasting marshmallows for s'mores. It was pretty chilly, so we scurried into the craft fair that was going on at the same time. Brynn got sucked into many conversations with the different vendors. It was kind of comical. She did come away with a sample of homemade soap, so she was pretty excited about that. Clara even got one too.

They had some  activities in the other buildings on site there, so we tried to hurry between them to find the other things they had going on.

Inside the church...

One of the houses was baking these sugar cookies (it was actually the one that was shown above as "Fargo's first house") and then you went over to this house to decorate them.

Brynn wasn't interested in visiting Santa this year, so she warmed up in the car with Dad while Clara told Mr. Claus what she wanted for Christmas, which I think was a stuffed reindeer, or something like that.

Then she made a phone call straight up to the elves.

It was a really neat and interesting set-up at Bonanzaville. We didn't make it around to all the different buildings, so I'd like to come back when it's nicer outside and we can spend a little more time look around at everything.

Sharing screen time.

Clara sang in church with the other Sunday School kids last Sunday.

It was really difficult to see her in the mass of children. This was just the K-1 group for the Sunday 9:30 service.

This is most of my Sunday School class; a couple were gone. They are so fun.

On Tuesday was Clara's preschool program. Oh my goodness. They were the cutest things that you ever did see. I was laughing and then crying because they were so precious. They had a super hero theme going on. Clara is the one in the back (waving), pretty much directly above this guy's head. :-) She was supposed to be Wonder Woman.

Clara with two of her besties from school. Silly girl.

Grandma Holly came to stay with us this week while Grandpa was gone hunting. She re-painted our whole downstairs. Thanks, Grandma! Clara was a good helper and assisted in removing the tape.

Wednesday was ugly sweater day at work!

Also on Wednesday, Brynn's confirmation leaders took their group shopping for gifts for the giving tree at church. One of the leaders sent this photo to us parents.

Here's a video of the performances and Clara's phone call with the elves.
Thank you to the grandparents for coming to watch the different programs!

Aww love it! Bonanzaville looks really cool. Great job with your programs, kids! The Clara and Santa pics are so sweet. Neat of Brynn’s confirmation class to do that!

Happy 10th Birthday, Clara!

Clara made a countdown chain to her 10th birthday. We baked a red velvet cake for her family party and chocolate cupcakes for her friend party. She looks so tall in some of these pics! Izabell's boyfriend, Neil, and Clara share the same birthday, so they all went out for lunch on their actual birthday on the 2nd. And then Neil had to get a tour of the Clara Express. Dana was in charge of getting balloons for the party and I sent him to Dollar Tree which apparently doesn't fill latex balloons, only Mylar. Dana "just knew" he had gotten the 'wrong' ones, and called me in a fit of rage over it and then followed up with this photo. haha. It all worked out just fine for Clara's ninja themed parties and I was able to pick up a few more black latex balloons from Cash Wise on my way home from work. Clara had already started partying at Prairie Joy's birthday party the night before, so I think she was short on sleep. I couldn't find her when I got home on F...

Mom + Brynn Take Chicago 2024

Brynn and I were very excited to embark on our mother-daughter trip to Chicago this week. We had gifted Brynn part of the trip as her sweet 16 birthday gift. We flew direct out of Fargo on Wednesday. We stayed at the Grand Plaza apartments on State Street in a VRBO rental. We loved it there! The building had an outdoor rooftop pool, library, gaming/movie room and gym on the 9th floor. This was us looking down from our 50th floor balcony. I refused to go to the edge of the balcony. Blech. (Photo credit: Brynn on this one!) Here are a few pics of inside the apartment that I hawked off of the VRBO listing. We got our things settled and ran next door to a Jewel Osco grocery for a few things and then got ready for dinner at River Roast along the Chicago River. It was very good and beautiful weather. I think Brynn said this was her favorite place that we ate at. Our waiter Jorge brought Brynn a carrot cake when we said we were celebrating Brynn's birthday on the trip. We came back to the...

End of Summer

Nanny Izabell was done with us mid-August as she got a full-time job. We had another great summer with her and she and Clara accomplished a lot from their summer bucket list. Clara busted out the kite Dad bought for her in Myrtle Beach. She really had fun with it. Dana with the crew from Dude's Weekend. You can see brother John third in from the left. With Izabell's departure, Clara went to stay at Grandpa and Grandma Dietz's. She spent some time at the lake and in Carrington. Dana FaceTimed Clara's swim meet she participated in while I was in Chicago so I could watch and cheer her on. She won both races she was in and overall for the categories she competed in. It was very exciting! She was home for a bit and then off again, this time to Grandpa and Grandma Froemmings'! But first, one last swim sesh in for the year...with Adria! Brynn babysat for Clara's friends and they made this cute sign. Grandma Holly surprised Clara with a visit by Dana's cousins kids ...
