Cookie Baking + Home Free/Frozen II

Last Saturday my mom and dad came over for some Christmas baking.

Brynn and Grandpa had gotten a game of dominoes going.

Then Brynn brought the totes of Dana's old toys up and they had a blast playing with those.

Meanwhile, Grandma was running solo trying to crank out spritz cookies with my ancient press.

Auntie Christel had driven up mid-baking as aunt Elaine and Dana's parents were coming on Sunday to visit before Elaine flew back home to Colorado. More dominoes!

The other night Brynn had her box of old artwork and school projects and such out. It's always fun to look back at all the things she made when she was little. This gem popped up. We got a good chuckle out of it. I don't even remember her making that one.

Last night Dana's co-worker friend and his wife had invited us to the Home Free concert at the Scheels arena. We first went out to eat at the Blarney Stone. I had never heard of Home Free prior to receiving our invitation. I tried to look them up on YouTube to see what type of music they do, but I wasn't really sure if what I had found was them or not. Then aunt Cindy posted one of their YouTube videos on Facebook stating they were here fav a capella group. I love a capella music, so then I was really excited for the show. They were fantastic. They are primarily a country group, so they did a lot of country cover songs, but they do have songs of their own as well. And they peppered in some Christmas tunes too. It was really fun.

We had commissioned Grandpa and Grandma Dietz to watch the girls while we went out. They hit up DQ for dinner before heading to Frozen II!

They knew my parents were coming to babysit them, but they didn't know my parents had planned to take them to the movie. The girls have really wanted to see it, so they were pretty excited when they found out they were going.

Our Christmas vacation has officially begun! Yahoo! We'll celebrate Christmas with just the four of us before heading back West to have Christmas with my side. We have our bucket list drawn up and plotted out when we plan on getting everything done, so I'll try to post as we check things off the list.

Merry Christmas!

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Easter + April Birthdays

The girls had Thursday, Friday and Monday off from school for the Easter break. So, Dana and I took most of the same time off (work) to match.  Always reading. 💜 Hanging out with Brynn. 💗 Dana and I went on a Costco date. We tried our hand at homemade ravioli again. I think it went a bit more smoothly compared to last time. Hubert's sister Abby stopped by for a visit. We hadn't seen her in a long time and so it was fun to have her We celebrated Dana's birthday and kicked it off with some Sandy's donuts. I don't recall what was so funny. haha. Clara's card. Birthday King Clara dyed eggs. I baked a birthday cake for Dana, messed it up getting it out of the pans, and Clara somehow cobbled it together into a masterpiece. Dana chose Lucky 13's for dinner out. On Saturday we packed up to hit up Oliver's birthday party before we went on to Dead Lake for Easter. Oliver is 9! Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...
