The wildlife continues to roam out in our neck of the woods. These tracks were from a gaggle (is that the correct term?) of wild turkeys wandering about the neighborhood. Last Sunday on our way home from church, they were making their way across University, not a care of the traffic they were holding up.
I saw this cute cake while I was grocery shopping at my all-time fav grocery store, Cash Wise.
I picked up a couple of their woodfire pizzas for lunch while I was there. They're really yummy.
The girls had both asked to get haircuts and Clara wanted hers pretty well chopped off. Sadly, our go-to hair gal, Ashley from Whipper Snippers, had to close her salon during her battle with cancer. :-(
So, I just made appointments at what I thought was the closest MJ Capelli location to us...but alas I had called the wrong one and we ended up over on 13th Ave.
The stylist seemed hesitant cutting that much off of Clara's hair, but, she forged on.
I was hopping back and forth to check on each of them and take pics as their appointments were at the same time with different stylists.
Brynn's stylist thinned her hair out a bit when she cut it which always is a good thing for Brynn's thick mane.
It was a beautiful weekend last weekend, so we got out our sleds and went down the hill toward the river (which is pretty well dried up down by us at the moment), right behind the cemetery.
That evening Dana and I had plans to attend a Fargo Force hockey game with his co-worker and his wife. They are a fun couple so we had a good time.
Clara enjoying some leftover waffles for breakfast last Sunday morning before Sunday School.
That afternoon we headed back out for more sledding and our neighbor a few houses down stopped by on his (vintage, as you can see) snowmobile. He chatted for probably a good half an hour or more out there regaling us with tales from his childhood as he grew up right in our neighborhood, moved away for a while, and now lives back where he started out.
Brynn had already went back home and the rest of us were putting the sleds and such away when Eddie (neighbor guy) pulled up with a different snowmobile and sled attached. He was disappointed to see that we were back home as he was going to pick us up from sledding for a ride. So, we put our mittens and such back on and boarded his makeshift dog sled.
He took us around back on the other side of the river and around on the East side of University a bit.
And got stuck. haha.
In visiting with him, he mentioned he was married, but didn't say anything about any kids or grandkids, so I think he got a kick out of taking us out on the sled. It sure was a fun time.
The girls have had their dolls and paraphernalia out up in the living room for weeks now and have kept busy playing.
Once Brynn saw how much fun Clara was having at her swim lessons at Foss, she wanted to sign up as well. So, they did a trial lesson with her so they could assess what level she would be in.
On Tuesday, Dana had his volunteer night at Fix It Forward. He asked Brynn if she wanted to go along and help, so she tagged along and ended up helping replace a coolant hose and doing some cleaning. Turns out she was a little disappointed because she thought they were going to be doing other things like painting the cars. :-) She still had some math homework to finish up on with Dad when they got home.
Wednesday night Brynn and I attended the ash Wednesday service at Hope. It was actually my first ever Ash Wednesday service!
Doing a snow project at preschool.
More playing with the doll stuff, but this time Brynn was using the hair toys to actually curl Clara's hair.
How appropriate that the above picture is of Clara sucking her thumb...Brynn's friend made Clara a thumb cover, hat type of thing, to help her stop sucking her thumb. :-) She thought it was cool and nice of Brynn's friend to think of her, but she didn't want to wear it.
Another rendition of "The Barbie Humor Show." One of these 'show episodes' takes place several times per week. The gist is Brynn acts out different dramatic scenarios with the dolls and Clara watches and is apparently quite entertained.
I complimented Dana on his fancy socks today and he said Clara was watching him get his clothes out for the day and suggested that he wear his 'sandwich socks.' Ha. And then must have proceeded to help him get them on.
One of our friends invited me to attend a French pastry baking class with her this afternoon. It was pretty fun and our treats were super tasty. I was going to write out what each thing was that we made, but I can't remember what they were all called now and I'm too lazy to run upstairs where my recipes are to look it up. But, basically made some little cream puffs and a tart and a cherry custard.
I really had to restrain myself from licking the bowls and spoons like I normally would at home. :-D I did snitch some of the tart dough, though, however so did the others in my group. But, I definitely at the bulk of it. Okay, confession time over.
I can't remember what these were called, but they are very heavily coated in sugar which made them a bit crispy on the outside. My friend and I both agreed they would be even better with cinnamon as well.
Meanwhile, back home the girls were helping Dana with his derby car that he will be racing at work this week for Engineering Week...which coincidentally I thought was last week. Leave it to engineers to go against the grain and move it to a different week of their choosing. ;-)
The girls crawled under the table after dinner tonight and were pestering Daddy.
Saturday night games...
