Almost Summer

The school year is slowly and finally winding down for the girls. Brynn is definitely counting down the days. Clara says she's going to miss riding the bus the most. :-) Their last day is Thursday the 3rd. Since they started the year late, they go later than they usually would as well.

Clara's class is still in their ABC countdown. She was most excited for P day with PJs and pancakes.

Brynn was able to receive her first dose of the COVID vaccination. Thankfully she reported no side effects.

A couple of weeks ago the auto repair shop and ministry that Dana volunteers for was having a grand opening celebration at their new south Fargo location. Clara went with us to take in a little car show they were having and some delish burgers that they served.

The two guys on the right are the co-owners. They did a nice little presentation of the ministry work and how that works together with the auto shop business. And they announced their goal to be able to donate/give away 1000 cars by 2026. So far through the ministry they have donated 200-some.

Star shades for 'S day!'

We don't typically have very many HS graduations to attend, but have three this year. The first one we've gone to so far is our summer nanny, Taylor's. She had a lot of her artwork on display which was fun to see.

It's interesting to see what the kids are doing for parties nowadays, compared to back when we graduated. Taylor had kind of a brunch/breakfast buffet thing going on. We grabbed a couple of donuts for the girls since they weren't with us.

Speaking of seniors and graduating, I dug out my senior pics as our morning exercise group was all posting theirs in our Facebook group.

The girls have started bringing home their projects and artwork from the past year. Loved this larger-than-life Crunch bar Brynn made!

Clara is finishing up her session of swim lessons and then will do a summer session at Foss next.

This past week I found myself back down near Ellendale, ND/Frederick, SD to get some footage of soybean planting for work.

I also found this chicken, but I don't think she liked me very much.

I wrapped up just as it was starting to sprinkle.

Also for work I made these quinoa lentil burgers which I was convinced would be disgusting, but was pleasantly surprised to find they actually turned out really delicious.

Brynn was working on a painting for her best friend the other night.

And she put Clara to bed after reading her a bedtime story.

First batch of rhubarb for this season.  I'm trying to decide what to make with it. I'm thinking a rhubarb crisp sounds good.

Brynn and I have had really nice weather for our evening walks lately.

Yay! Another house project complete!

We've started our summer bucket list, though we only have a couple of things on it so far. The girls are exciting for their new nanny to start.

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Easter + April Birthdays

The girls had Thursday, Friday and Monday off from school for the Easter break. So, Dana and I took most of the same time off (work) to match.  Always reading. 💜 Hanging out with Brynn. 💗 Dana and I went on a Costco date. We tried our hand at homemade ravioli again. I think it went a bit more smoothly compared to last time. Hubert's sister Abby stopped by for a visit. We hadn't seen her in a long time and so it was fun to have her We celebrated Dana's birthday and kicked it off with some Sandy's donuts. I don't recall what was so funny. haha. Clara's card. Birthday King Clara dyed eggs. I baked a birthday cake for Dana, messed it up getting it out of the pans, and Clara somehow cobbled it together into a masterpiece. Dana chose Lucky 13's for dinner out. On Saturday we packed up to hit up Oliver's birthday party before we went on to Dead Lake for Easter. Oliver is 9! January + Valentine's Day + CATS!

We ARE still alive over here and have not frozen to death. Here's what we've been up to for the past month and a half! Brynn and Hubert at the OG (Olive Garden): 'Lady and the Tramp' style. haha. Taking in a Force game...with extra fighting. It was very exciting. One Sunday when Clara was at a sleepover, the three of us went to Black Coffee Waffle Bar after church and then for some crepes and boba at Tea & Crepe. Then Brynn and I went prom dress shopping which was really fun. She did find a dress she loves so that was a relief. This is not the one she chose, but she tried on quite a few nice ones. Clara made crowns for the king and I (me). Clara had to write an essay to be considered for the robotics team at school. She waited for at least a couple of weeks to learn if she was accepted, and unfortunately was not. She was pretty disappointed, but she does have a chance to reapply next year when she's a fifth grader, and won't have to write another essay. I th...
