School's Out!

We spotted a couple of rainbows the other night after it rained.

Brynn took some mini cupcakes for a treat potluck they were having in their advisory (homeroom class).

 Brynn and Dana could really share this shirt. Ha! It says "once in a while someone amazing comes along...and here I am." Yes, you are amazing, Brynn. I guess we don't need to tell her that, though. ;-)

The girls brought all of their art projects home from school that they had worked on throughout the year. Before we recycled and put away all of them, we were dazzled with an art show last night.

Clara's teacher gave each of her students a personalized water bottle. Clara is really going to miss her teacher. She was an absolute gem. 

We put together just a couple little cookie bags as thank-yous to her teacher and her bus driver.

What a year! They made it all school year with having to wear their masks the whole time. They did so great with it. I'm happy to report that next school year, barring any changes, they will be able to start the school year sans masks.

First and last day of kindergarten! First grade here we come!

First and last day of seventh grade; on to eighth! Brynn always ages so much over the course of the school year. She did grow three inches this year!

Clara said Ms. Hewitt was tearing up giving all the kids hugs good-bye. I know Clara is going to miss her. (Yes, that is a cape Clara is wearing. Because why not on the last day of school!?)

I got an e-mail from Clara's principal yesterday that parents could line up outside the doors and clap out the fifth graders as they are done with elementary and will be moving on to middle school next year. Their parents were able to join them as they lead the way with the lower grades following from there. I decided to bike over with the trailer to pick Clara up from school and clap the kids out. I could already hear the fifth graders cheering before they came out of the doors. Then the first ones out yelled, 'we're sixth graders now!" Haha. It was really fun.

She was showing me all her stuff when we got back home.

She was very proud and excited to have been one of three winners of a sight word challenge today. $5.00 to Dairy Queen!

Last week I had seen another mom post on Facebook that she got this Dr. Seuss book for her child to bring to school for his teacher to sign each year...sort of like a yearbook, I suppose. I loved that idea, so when the girls and I were at Barnes and Noble last weekend, I found a copy and Ms. Hewitt said she would gladly sign it for Clara.

She even included a photo of the two of them. 💓 A photo that was just from today actually.

Pretty soon it was time to go get Brynnie.

We had to find a new last-day-of-school ice cream spot as the Cold Stone that we used to go to closed, so we opted for Culvers. 

Clara wanted some curds to go with her ice cream. Thankfully she shared them with the rest of us.
