October Catch-up

Last Friday Dana went to his annual co-worker shooting afternoon. I think he had a good time. :-)

Clara was invited over to Adria's for a sleepover...in matching jams, of course.

Dana and I went back to 46th North Pints and Provisions and had another amazing dinner there.

After Clara's soccer game on Saturday, Amanda and I took Adria and Clara to the Buffalo River Pumpkin Patch. It was a perfect afternoon and they had so much fun there.

Meanwhile, Brynn spent the weekend with Hope Lutheran confirmation students at Camp Castaway on Pelican Lake for a retreat. She ended up having a good time and said it was really pretty there on the lake with very nice cabins. I'm glad she had such a great experience.

She will be confirmed at the end of her ninth grade year next year, so she will have another chance to go again, if she chooses.

All the girls attending the retreat from all Hope campuses.

Dana was excited to be making progress on restoring his old '51 truck that was his dad's. He has my uncle's old pick-up that he pulled the motor out of to use in the '51.

We've been able to spend a lot of time outside enjoying this unseasonably warm weather. Clara was pulling me in the wagon.

Playing a fierce game of Go Fish.

Brynn has really seemed to have grown up and matured so much in the past year in particular. It's hard to believe she'll be in high school next year. We are so proud of her. 💜

They did get art club going at Brynn's school now so she has been going to that a couple of times a month. She sent me this from Thursday's meeting when they were making masks. Haha.

Clara checked this book out from the school library and it has quickly become a favorite of hers.

Ready for swim class!

Clara's depiction of her dream boyfriend. It looks like he had some teeth at one point and perhaps lost them?

Dana and I had planned a deck date on Friday night and Brynn kindly made us a delicious batch of her signature guacamole.

I love this narwhal picture Clara made.

Happy birthday this week to Granny Annie, Grandpa and Uncle Chad!

We celebrated Grandpa's birthday last night out to eat in Perham. It was a really cool place and the food was excellent.

Grandma drove us back home as Dad and Grandpa are heading out this morning for their annual trip "up North" to go grouse hunting...well, Dad is just riding four-wheeler and not hunting. But Grandma is going to stay with us for a few days while they're gone.

Brynn had Grandma helping her re-set her sewing machine at 11:00 last night. :-)

Clara was to have her last soccer game of the season yesterday, but it was raining all morning and she doesn't have cleats so we thought she might have a pretty difficult time with a wet field. And it was continuing to rain even through game time. We figured not many other girls would show up to play either. She had a great season and loved playing fall soccer. Thank you to everyone who came to watch her games! She appreciates the cheering, love and support! I am checking into winter soccer, perhaps still through Fargo Soccer Club, or also there is another club, Tri-City Soccer. Clara is still in her swim class at Foss and will continue that and then she has talked about starting up gymnastics again now that fall soccer is over, which I see the next session begins in November.

We're looking forward to our 'day of rest' today, though it will be fun busy with church and Sunday School and the girls have a birthday party and a friend's house they're going to this afternoon. From the sounds of it, I'd better get start organizing for Christmas shopping. But before that even, Thanksgiving! Yay!

Yay! This past week was so fun. Also, I thought it was castaway, not cormorant. Maybe I’m wrong.

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Reagan Graduation + MDW + Tennis

This past weekend our oldest niece, Reagan, graduated high school. She will be attending UND for nursing in the fall. We're so proud of you and love you so much, Reagan!   Cousin Cayden had his Italian soda bar set up at the party which was super fun and a big hit. She opened a few gifts the night before her commencement. Reagan is the third generation to graduate from Harvey High as my mom and her dad, Chad also attended there. This was such a fun gift idea that Tessa put together from her and Chad. We got back home Sunday evening and between the four of us doing different things, spent most of Memorial Day outside. It was such beautiful weather. Brynn and I played tennis and Dana and Clara replaced some shrubs and did yardwork. The tennis season has wrapped up for Brynn now. She's sad to not be playing anymore, but still gets some court time between playing with friends and sometimes Clara and/or me. We're so proud of her and glad she played again this year. I had taken s...
