Advent

The Sunday after Thanksgiving we got the tree up.

Clara seemed to be having an off day at school a while back and I had some cookie dough in the freezer that I thawed out for her to bake a few cookies with when she got off the bus.

Nothing a little cozy reading by the Christmas tree can't fix....well, and the cookies.

Tessa, Elise and I road tripped down to visit Shelly. My head is covering up poor Lester. The staff at the nursing home set this all up for us to be able to eat lunch together. It was so good to see her and Lester.

Elise played a couple songs on the piano.

While I was in South Dakota, Hubert had planned on touring UND and asked Brynn to come along. She really enjoyed touring the campus and they are both pretty interested in possibly attending.

Dana sent me this pic of them playing Nerts while I was on my way back home.

Brynn and Hubert put together a slide show of their relationship thus far. I thoroughly enjoyed their presentation.

Hubert and his fancy hot cocoa and festive Grinch sweatshirt. (We were about to play more Nerts that night.)

Clara and I made it out on our holiday lights walking tour through the nearby neighborhood. There were some pretty good displays!

Dana and I had a date night which started at Brewhalla/Drekker Brewing.

We ate dinner at No Bull Smokehouse which is always great.

At Blarney downtown for our fav dessert.

Last stop was the Gastropub where I realized I still had some game at shuffleboard!

Some of Clara's recent artwork.

Hubert and Brynn went skating at The Lights in West Fargo with another couple they're friends with.

Still and always my baby!

Mom and Dad came for a holiday baking afternoon this past Saturday. We made spritz, peanut butter blossom and raspberry ribbon cookies and krumkake. It all turned out so good!

Grandma is anti-stand mixer, so Clara had to get her muscles going. Haha.

Thankfully we had a taste tester show up.

This past Sunday Clara's Sunday school class sang in church. They did so well and sounded great.

We barely got any snow during a recent storm over the weekend, but it was still enough to pull a sled behind the four wheeler. I think Hubert had the most fun. :-)

Aw such a good mama when Clara had a bad day <3. I'm excited Brynn & Hubert liked UND! Hubert's hot cocoa is quite impressive. What an awesome date night out on the town! I love how Clara's head is resting on Mom's shoulder in that baking pic. And wow, the kids sounded great singing at church. You can tell Clara was giving it her all!

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Reagan Graduation + MDW + Tennis

This past weekend our oldest niece, Reagan, graduated high school. She will be attending UND for nursing in the fall. We're so proud of you and love you so much, Reagan!   Cousin Cayden had his Italian soda bar set up at the party which was super fun and a big hit. She opened a few gifts the night before her commencement. Reagan is the third generation to graduate from Harvey High as my mom and her dad, Chad also attended there. This was such a fun gift idea that Tessa put together from her and Chad. We got back home Sunday evening and between the four of us doing different things, spent most of Memorial Day outside. It was such beautiful weather. Brynn and I played tennis and Dana and Clara replaced some shrubs and did yardwork. The tennis season has wrapped up for Brynn now. She's sad to not be playing anymore, but still gets some court time between playing with friends and sometimes Clara and/or me. We're so proud of her and glad she played again this year. I had taken s...
