Mother's Day (Weekend)

On Saturday, Brynn and I weathered the wind to watch Hubert's rugby game. Brynn kindly captured this pic of me.

Later on Brynn headed into work and I met up with Dana, Clara, Holly and Kevin for dinner near Barnesville. Clara had Dana had gone to the lake Friday.

The last day of (teaching) Sunday School was last weekend, so we were all able to attend church together which was so nice. We tried to take some pics outside when we got back home, but it was just so windy and bright.

Clara had selected some Bible verses that reminded her of me and read them to me. So sweet. 💜

We went to brunch at Jay's Smokin' BBQ and it was quite the spread of food for their buffet. Sunday was also my dad's birthday so we were celebrating that too!

Dana helped me wash my cars in the afternoon and then he and Clara made us a delicious steak salad for dinner.

Brynn was able to join us for brunch before she had to work later in the afternoon. She came out onto the deck to chat with us after she got home.

I was thinking back to some of the text messages I've exchanged between the girls and me, from humorous to sweet. So, I screenshot some of my favs to share in honor of mother's day. :-) (Clara has an iPad that she can message anyone who has an Apple device, if she's on Wi-Fi.)

She was supposed to be cleaning her room...rather than making a scarf.

I was in Anaheim for our trade show back in March and had come down with a sinus infection.

We had learned that Mummy Pig from the childhood show Peppa Pig was expecting. I was messaging with Brynn while I at a Fargo Force hockey game and she was baby-sitting Clara and she started randomly sharing her ponderings about Mummy Pig's pregnancy with me. hahaha.

This is Brynn - I'm not sure where I had run off to that she couldn't find me.

Also from Brynn. 💜

My mom had returned my childhood stuffed Popple pet to me recently and I have it either on our bed or nearby on the nightstand. I shared this crime scene with Brynn when I came upon Mr. Popplopigous (his name - I know I refer to her as a she below) in this state. Don't worry; I knew right away who the culprit was.

Clara's cry for help.

Another distress call from Clara...she likes to make ramen, but apparently the 'bricks' are too hard on her hands when she breaks it up to cook it.

From Brynn. LOL.

From Clara:

We hope all the moms in our lives had a wonderful day! We love you all. 💓

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Christmas 2025/New Years 2026

Christmas gift wrapping shenanigans: Keeping Brynn company while she wraps all of our Christmas gifts. Brynn and I couldn't help but peek at the 150 Famous Poems book we gave to Clara. So many good ones. Getting into the holiday spirit at Courts Plus. Ha! Christmas eve brunch. Clara's gingerbread house contest strategy notes. Contestants were allowed 20 minutes to shop for their houses at Wal-mart. We left ourselves little time to get ready for the 3:00 Christmas eve service at our church. But, we made it and thankfully didn't have to sit in the overflow area in the chapel! It was a beautiful service. We had bit more time in between church and when we planned to leave for Tessa's, so I mixed up my eggnog and we got the car packed. Tessa's family hosted Christmas eve at their lake home. We had a great mix of people to play a game of Mind the Gap. Getting cookies ready for Santa. Clara got Dana and me up around 7:30 and we watched her open her stocking. I think Dana a...
