My Birthday + May Day + Star Wars Day + More

I was able to help with Clara's spring party in her classroom (which was really fun) and I saw this on our way out and thought it was cool.

Dana and I went out on a date night a couple of weeks ago and tried out a newer bar called Starbird Lounge. It's a tiki bar; it was pretty fun.

Clara and I checked out a bookstore we hadn't been to before on National Independent Bookstore Day.

Then we walked around downtown a bit more and found ourselves a treat.

The girls tried on some hats while they were shopping with Dana. Haha.

Brynn helped me put together our May Day baskets for this year.

Clara and I delivered.

My boss sent me Crumbl for my birthday!

I woke up to all this courtesy of Brynn on the morning of my birthday.

Jim is my birthday twin and so we twinned at our exercise dance class.

Brynn made dirt cups for my birthday treat and they were really good.

Brynn had to work when we went out to dinner for my birthday so she and I went to brunch together the following morning.

Clara and Dana celebrated May the Fourth: Star Wars Day.

They ended up at the same place that Brynn and I ate at, Pounds. Ha.

Still celebrating! We were out to Kobe's for our monthly office lunch and our teppanyaki chef caught wind that I had recently had a birthday so then we had to do all this. It was sweet and we had a fun time at Kobe's.

Brynn and Hubert out for a four-wheeler ride this past week.

On Friday I attended a communicators conference in Minot, but drove down the night before. I stopped by Mom and Dad's for a pit stop and to say hi to Ninja, but she didn't want kisses or photos.

I was able to go on a walk in the morning and then during a break in the conference. It was a really nice day.

This is where the conference was held which got pretty stifling by the end of the day as it was a really old building with no AC.

On Friday was Clara's school carnival so Dana took her to that since I was still driving home from Minot.

I've seen that Starbird Lounge advertised somewhere or maybe on social media. It looks like fun! What a fun bookstore outing you and Clara had! Brynn looks like she's ready for the Derby with that hat. I love all the birthday goodies and fun you had! You deserve it! Kudos to Brynn on her dirt cups and her Dr. Pepper shirt - nice!

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Christmas 2025/New Years 2026

Christmas gift wrapping shenanigans: Keeping Brynn company while she wraps all of our Christmas gifts. Brynn and I couldn't help but peek at the 150 Famous Poems book we gave to Clara. So many good ones. Getting into the holiday spirit at Courts Plus. Ha! Christmas eve brunch. Clara's gingerbread house contest strategy notes. Contestants were allowed 20 minutes to shop for their houses at Wal-mart. We left ourselves little time to get ready for the 3:00 Christmas eve service at our church. But, we made it and thankfully didn't have to sit in the overflow area in the chapel! It was a beautiful service. We had bit more time in between church and when we planned to leave for Tessa's, so I mixed up my eggnog and we got the car packed. Tessa's family hosted Christmas eve at their lake home. We had a great mix of people to play a game of Mind the Gap. Getting cookies ready for Santa. Clara got Dana and me up around 7:30 and we watched her open her stocking. I think Dana a...
