Medora Trip

Last weekend Clara and I traveled west to Medora. Clara had never been there before and was interested in checking it out. She was mapping out our route (which was pretty straightforward!) before we left.

We made good time and, of course, had to stop at The Coffee Cup in Steele. (Growing up whenever we would go to Bismarck, it was must to stop here for snacks.)

We waved to Sue on our way past New Salem.

It was beautiful weather when we rolled into Medora. We were able to get checked into our motel right away and walked into town to start checking things of our itinerary.

Our first stop was ice cream!

After ice cream we just walked around town a bit and went into some of the shops.

Clara had a burger from Sheriff Bear's before we got back to our motel just ahead of a rain shower. After the weather cleared, I was hungry for dinner so we shared some pizza and drove into the Theodore Roosevelt National Park for a bit.

It was very foggy and misty when we got up on Saturday morning.

We had a bit of a wait at the best breakfast spot, but it was worth it.

In true Froemming fashion, Clara took right to the shooting range. The attendant working it showed her how to aim through the sight and once she got that figured out, she hit all of the targets. Ha.

She quite impressed Theodore Roosevelt himself with her sharp shooting. So much so that he invited her to join as a roughrider in his calvary. Bully!

Mr. Roosevelt told Clara where and when to meet for joining up with the calvary, so in the meantime we visited one of the museums.

That you, sister? 🤨

Soon it was time to meet up with the other roughriders.

They learned how to salute and march and then made their way back to the shooting range. Clara was the eldest roughrider and had already proven her shooting skills, so she helped some of the younger ones.

She had the idea to have Teddy sign her bandana (that each roughrider received from him, matching his own.💙)

They ended up back in the park where they began and after the other kids dissipated, Teddy asked if Clara would help him clean up his table and things. They had a nice chat about birds (big surprise that his fav is the meadowlark, hehe) and then he asked Clara for a hug before they parted ways. It was so sweet and very special.

Not long after all that, it was time for our old time photo shoot. We had been very much looking forward to it after we had booked our appointment the day before. We loved how it turned out!

It was barely warm enough to swim, but Clara still wanted to check out the pool. So we relaxed a bit by the pool and in our room.

We wanted to make it through the Chateau de Mores before we had to get to our dinner reservation for the pitchfork fondue.

As usual, the fondue was excellent and Clara really enjoyed the live music which was a family of 14 called Figuring it Out from Bemidji.

You can see the chateau as well as our motel from up where they have the pitchfork fondue....which is also on top of the hills where they do the musical down below.

We had to get some pics with the Medora sign behind us.

The musical was just finishing up and they set off fireworks as part of the grand finale.

After dinner we had planned to drive through the park a bit and walk around some. After the gloomy morning, it was a perfect evening.

We were almost ready to turn around and call it a night in the park when we finally spotted some bison.

This guy was having a good scratch alongside this guardrail. ha.

We headed back home into an oven on Sunday! But, we had a really good time and hope to go back soon with my BFF Amanda and her daughter, Clara's friend Adria. The Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library is set to open up there July 2026 and we would love to check that out as well.

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Easter + April Birthdays

The girls had Thursday, Friday and Monday off from school for the Easter break. So, Dana and I took most of the same time off (work) to match.  Always reading. 💜 Hanging out with Brynn. 💗 Dana and I went on a Costco date. We tried our hand at homemade ravioli again. I think it went a bit more smoothly compared to last time. Hubert's sister Abby stopped by for a visit. We hadn't seen her in a long time and so it was fun to have her We celebrated Dana's birthday and kicked it off with some Sandy's donuts. I don't recall what was so funny. haha. Clara's card. Birthday King Clara dyed eggs. I baked a birthday cake for Dana, messed it up getting it out of the pans, and Clara somehow cobbled it together into a masterpiece. Dana chose Lucky 13's for dinner out. On Saturday we packed up to hit up Oliver's birthday party before we went on to Dead Lake for Easter. Oliver is 9! Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...
