More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)

They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check!

Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there.

Clara into her granny hobbies. :-)

We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Zander's party in Sartell.

(Karlie is the daughter of our good friends, Adam and Monica.) They had recently put up a shop at their farm and it was the perfect venue for Karlie's party. All the decorations and photos she had out looked so nice. In fact, I had to step away from looking at all her childhood photos because I started to get emotional. But, it was so good to visit with Adam and Monica as we don't get to see them often enough.

Passing the time on the rest of our drive.

Zander is the son of our college friends, Roger and Jessica, and is our Godson. I think I had mentioned in the last blog post that Dana had already gone down ahead of us to help with party preparations. It was a nice day for the party (quite warm actually!) and the rain held off until the evening.

Dana made a hammerschlagen stand just for the party. The kids had fun playing with it.

Brynn had to work so unfortunately wasn't able to make it to these parties either. She went to a couple friends' parties who graduated from her high school as well as attended the commencement ceremony held at the FARGODOME. She admitted she did get a bit emotional, perhaps thinking of her time coming next year. She realized she knew more kids graduating than she had thought, so that was kind of fun for her.

I am working from home quite a bit now which is great because we don't have Izabell coming until the afternoon and then not at all on Fridays since I go into the office when Dana comes home early. So, Clara has been getting herself ready and making breakfast for herself in the mornings. You can almost always find her with her headphones on which typically means she's listening to an audiobook.

Today was the first day of tennis lessons, and this time Elizabeth has joined in at the same day and time slot as Clara's session. So fun.

VBX (Vacation Bible Xperience) is this week at church as well. The theme this year is Jellyfish Junction. Always with the amazing themes and props and costumes.

Susan was our room leader the past couple of years for Sunday School.

Wow, look at Clara go with her knitting! I love that she's got the headphones going - I like to do that too! That's so fun that her friend is doing tennis lessons with her. So many of these kids graduating, gah. Time flies!

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Christmas 2025/New Years 2026

Christmas gift wrapping shenanigans: Keeping Brynn company while she wraps all of our Christmas gifts. Brynn and I couldn't help but peek at the 150 Famous Poems book we gave to Clara. So many good ones. Getting into the holiday spirit at Courts Plus. Ha! Christmas eve brunch. Clara's gingerbread house contest strategy notes. Contestants were allowed 20 minutes to shop for their houses at Wal-mart. We left ourselves little time to get ready for the 3:00 Christmas eve service at our church. But, we made it and thankfully didn't have to sit in the overflow area in the chapel! It was a beautiful service. We had bit more time in between church and when we planned to leave for Tessa's, so I mixed up my eggnog and we got the car packed. Tessa's family hosted Christmas eve at their lake home. We had a great mix of people to play a game of Mind the Gap. Getting cookies ready for Santa. Clara got Dana and me up around 7:30 and we watched her open her stocking. I think Dana a...
