Cousin Camp 2025: 10th Anniversary

Cousin Camp 2025: 10th Anniversary was a success with a huge thanks, as usual, to our fearless leader and head camp counselor, Auntie Tessa.

We commissioned Brynn for an emergency shower cap run for one of the games.

Brianna was able to join us again this year, so we loaded up Thursday night and headed to camp.

Elise and Brynn did a great job with this year's sign, incorporating themes from the past years.

To kick things off, we each shared our name, age and fav themes and/or games/challenges from prior camp years.

Teams were challenged with chronologically sorting previous years' shirts.

As part of this year's theme, Tessa brought back some of the campers' favorite games and challenges.

This one was the frozen t-shirt challenge. First team to thaw their t-shirt from a block of ice and get it onto their designated teammate wins.

Cooking Challenge

Next up was the most popular game amongst the campers: slip-n-slide kickball.

After kickball, some other cousins were able to join for a bit for some big slip-n-slide action.

After dinner was the talent show.

Tessa put together a 10th anniversary video compilation, capturing photos and scenes from the past camps.

Gutter sundae returned as well!

On to chubby bunny.

The champion:

The smaller campers got settled for bed while the older ones stayed outside to watch the weather.

Eventually the girls congregated for conversation cards.

After breakfast, the campers and counselors did a scrapbook craft.

Followed up by the Fear Factor Food Challenge. Each year it gets more difficult to keep these kids down with even the grossest of foods. Ben had the good idea to save a bit from each round and blend it all up together for the final round.

While Tessa got lunch ready the campers played the cheese head game where they try to get as many cheesy puffs onto their partner's shower cap (which has whipped topping on it).

Classic!

Head Counselors:

And that's a wrap! After camp we relaxed and brainstormed for next year's theme. And then Ben kindly placed the Rosa's order for us.

Lots of ATVing was happening, some resting, visiting and game playing and I went on a walk.

Here is the 10th anniversary video compilation Tessa put together, if you'd like to watch that.

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Christmas 2025/New Years 2026

Christmas gift wrapping shenanigans: Keeping Brynn company while she wraps all of our Christmas gifts. Brynn and I couldn't help but peek at the 150 Famous Poems book we gave to Clara. So many good ones. Getting into the holiday spirit at Courts Plus. Ha! Christmas eve brunch. Clara's gingerbread house contest strategy notes. Contestants were allowed 20 minutes to shop for their houses at Wal-mart. We left ourselves little time to get ready for the 3:00 Christmas eve service at our church. But, we made it and thankfully didn't have to sit in the overflow area in the chapel! It was a beautiful service. We had bit more time in between church and when we planned to leave for Tessa's, so I mixed up my eggnog and we got the car packed. Tessa's family hosted Christmas eve at their lake home. We had a great mix of people to play a game of Mind the Gap. Getting cookies ready for Santa. Clara got Dana and me up around 7:30 and we watched her open her stocking. I think Dana a...
