Northern Lights + Life Lately

Auntie Tessa thought of Clara when she saw this recipe and sent it to her in the mail. 💜We haven't had a chance to make them yet though.

Brynn is a histology hero! Her anatomy teacher gave them some stickers. It gave me a chuckle.

Clara's accelerated learning teacher always asks them to come up with questions and I think she had noted this one to bring to class.

Dad and Brynn!

Last week Brynn and I started out on a walk and realized the Northern lights were very visible. I hadn't heard that they would be out, so it was an awesome surprise. There was a lot of movement as well which was extra cool. Brynn took these with her phone as I didn't have mine out with us. We were so amazed to see them so well from right in town.

Some of the Red Dragons swim team practices have been at Moorhead High, home of the Spuds! They have a brand new school which I hadn't been in yet. It was so fun to see a bit of the inside as it turned out so impressively.

Our friends, Jessica and Roger, came with their daughter for a visit last weekend. Of course we made all kinds of good food to eat, including homemade ravioli and Roger made homemade bread.

Roger had this device that is mostly for drawing and he thought Clara would like to play around with it. She thought it was pretty cool.

I heard the Northern lights were supposed to be very visible again this past week, so Clara and I tried going out and they did not disappoint again! I was glad she had a chance to see them too.

Clara caught the sore throat/cough that had been going around school. She stayed home from school, I think it ended up to be two days. And she got really bored, so she documented some of her time during her illness.

She is feeling much better now, but still has a lingering cough.

Brynn bundled up to head out on a walk.

Brynn's anatomy class group selfie - that was taken with her PLD (school computer) since they can't have their phones in class.

Our thankful pumpkin is filling up with blessings.

I have three work days left until my Thanksgiving break, so I'm very close to full turkey mode! I did buy my bird at the grocery store yesterday and stocked up on sparkling grape juice that I found on sale at Wal-mart.

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Easter + April Birthdays

The girls had Thursday, Friday and Monday off from school for the Easter break. So, Dana and I took most of the same time off (work) to match.  Always reading. 💜 Hanging out with Brynn. 💗 Dana and I went on a Costco date. We tried our hand at homemade ravioli again. I think it went a bit more smoothly compared to last time. Hubert's sister Abby stopped by for a visit. We hadn't seen her in a long time and so it was fun to have her We celebrated Dana's birthday and kicked it off with some Sandy's donuts. I don't recall what was so funny. haha. Clara's card. Birthday King Clara dyed eggs. I baked a birthday cake for Dana, messed it up getting it out of the pans, and Clara somehow cobbled it together into a masterpiece. Dana chose Lucky 13's for dinner out. On Saturday we packed up to hit up Oliver's birthday party before we went on to Dead Lake for Easter. Oliver is 9! Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...
