Thanksgiving 2025

Our beautiful autumn weather came to an end on Tuesday.

The girls had Wednesday off of school and Dana had taken the day off of work...so we could all clean. Ha. This year's incentivized cleaning list:

Reagan was in town and stayed Tuesday night. She got up and joined in cleaning right away in an effort to claim the $50 prize money (sponsored by Dana's chainsaw business).

...which I'm happy to announce that she did! Congrats and thanks for all the help!

It's officially Thanksgiving once the Chex Mix is done!

Morning preparations. We don't have any cable access so we had the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on a loop from someone's crappy YouTube video while Brynn blasted her rap music for some motivation for us. Some of it was too profane for Clara so she went to her room for a bit until Dana coaxed her out and we turned on Jesus music instead.

Getting Cleopatra ready!

Brynn did an amazing job on the spread.

I tried my hand at jalapeno poppers and Oliver gave them two thumbs up.

Clara and Oliver collabed to put on an incredible performance.

The annual review of Dana's wardrobe.

Heading out for a pre-dinner stroll.

Mom giving me a boost to get out some shot glasses.

The storm before the calm. It's usually chaos the hour before we sit down. But I love it. Everyone pitches in to pull it all together.

Shot 'o clock!

Oops! The lime got the better of Mom.

Time for a shot with Kevin.

I asked Brynn to write a prayer which she also read. It was beautiful.

Tessa and my fav side: stuffing!

Pictionary bosses! I really had some embarrassing performances. Sorry, sister. We still won though...obvi.

Brynn asked me if I wanted to get permanent jewelry done together and the nail salon that we always go to was having a Black Friday special so we got these matching bracelets together.

Dana's parents, Dana, Brynn, Elise, Reagan, Ben and Cayden went to the Force game. I had some quiet time at home doing some online Christmas shopping and relaxing with a movie.

Clara and Oliver went to stay at Grandpa and Grandma Dietz's.

Another year of immeasurable blessings. 💚 So glad for those who were able to celebrate and give thanks with us. We were missing Christel and John as John fell ill and Grandma Ann as she decided to stick closer to home due to the weather and accepted Dana's cousin's invitation to join them for Thanksgiving.

Happy Thanksgiving!

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Reagan Graduation + MDW + Tennis

This past weekend our oldest niece, Reagan, graduated high school. She will be attending UND for nursing in the fall. We're so proud of you and love you so much, Reagan!   Cousin Cayden had his Italian soda bar set up at the party which was super fun and a big hit. She opened a few gifts the night before her commencement. Reagan is the third generation to graduate from Harvey High as my mom and her dad, Chad also attended there. This was such a fun gift idea that Tessa put together from her and Chad. We got back home Sunday evening and between the four of us doing different things, spent most of Memorial Day outside. It was such beautiful weather. Brynn and I played tennis and Dana and Clara replaced some shrubs and did yardwork. The tennis season has wrapped up for Brynn now. She's sad to not be playing anymore, but still gets some court time between playing with friends and sometimes Clara and/or me. We're so proud of her and glad she played again this year. I had taken s...
