Holy Week

Amanda and I attended Brent's Secret Movie Night a couple of weeks ago. All we knew is that it was an 80s movie, fun, and it's not typically on any streaming platforms. I had no clue, and was hoping it was one I would like! Sure enough, I had not seen it before....it was 'The Sure Thing.' It was pretty good!

Clara and I getting ready for our family trip to Yellowstone this summer.

Clara sang in church on Palm Sunday.

On Monday the Scouts got to see some exotic animals at Concordia College. I think it may have been through the college's Exotic Animal Care and Husbandry Club. Clara thought it was pretty cool. She was petting the bearded dragon in this photo and they also saw a snake and tarantula.

I haven't stopped blubbering since Wednesday's launch of the Artemis II mission! Clara and I have been following along with the developments for at least a year now and were very excited for launch day. I raced home from work to try and make it in time. I found Clara streaming NASA's YouTube channel and FaceTiming with auntie and Oliver when I did make it home. So, we got to watch it together!

I've been continuing to follow along the video transmissions along their journey. So exciting.

Maundy Thursday was Clara's First Communion during the church service.

Clara and Micah

The Sunday School leaders asked the kids to do the readings during the service. Clara volunteered and ended up being chosen to read the gospel, which was John 13:1-17.  All the readers gathered before the service to run through everything.

(The bucket and gloves were the pastor's props for his sermon). Clara did such a great job!

The girls had Friday off of school and Dana and I were off of work. Unfortunately Dana came down with a bad cold on Thursday, so he was lying low on Friday.

The girls and I got our nails done in the morning and in the afternoon dyed our eggs. Brynn hung out with us for a bit before she headed into work.

Our church put together a Lent reading guide. We had gotten horribly behind, so I got caught up by reading the remaining versus to Clara while she was dyeing her eggs.

Clara making Dad's pizza for him.

Oops!

What Saturday looked like. :-/

Clara opened up her Easter basket before church on Sunday.

She got a cot for Scouts camp this summer.

The art installation at our church. It was so beautiful. Dana was feeling worse yet on Sunday so it was just the girls and me. We tried to get to church really early to get a good spot. There was one service prior to the 9:00 one that we planned to attend, and the narthex was already filling up quickly when we arrived. They had everything organized really well, though, and we did get a good seat. We could smell all the flowers in the front.

We had some time after church, before we left for Tessa and Chad's to celebrate Easter there.

Brynn opened up her basket before we left.

Egg hunt time!

And a visit from the Easter Bunny!

We played Pictionary, of course. We won....of course.

Thank you to Tessa and Chad for hosting us for a beautiful Easter celebration.

Dana was starting to feel better yesterday, thankfully, but seemed like he had some conjunctivitis he didn't want to spread around, so I took Clara to her Scout meeting. It was fingerprinting night!

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Reagan Graduation + MDW + Tennis

This past weekend our oldest niece, Reagan, graduated high school. She will be attending UND for nursing in the fall. We're so proud of you and love you so much, Reagan!   Cousin Cayden had his Italian soda bar set up at the party which was super fun and a big hit. She opened a few gifts the night before her commencement. Reagan is the third generation to graduate from Harvey High as my mom and her dad, Chad also attended there. This was such a fun gift idea that Tessa put together from her and Chad. We got back home Sunday evening and between the four of us doing different things, spent most of Memorial Day outside. It was such beautiful weather. Brynn and I played tennis and Dana and Clara replaced some shrubs and did yardwork. The tennis season has wrapped up for Brynn now. She's sad to not be playing anymore, but still gets some court time between playing with friends and sometimes Clara and/or me. We're so proud of her and glad she played again this year. I had taken s...
