Kindergarten Update

Everyone asks Brynn how Kindergarten has been going...even strangers. She usually just says 'great.' She doesn't get into too many details, except if you ask her specific questions. So, I basically grill her for information every day when I get home. :-) Things really have been going well for her; from getting on the bus in the mornings to the HopeKids after school program.  She realized the first day she rode the bus, which was Monday of this week, that lo and behold BFF Rosha rides in the mornings, too! They were both so excited. I was really glad for Brynn, as that was the one thing she was still a little uneasy about, was not knowing any other kids on the morning bus ride. So, they are together all day long now. Getting ready to make it on the bus in time has been going well. She is afraid of missing the bus, so that has been a great motivator in making it out to the corner in time. We don't wait out there but two to three minutes, but I really enjoy those few ...

Gymnastics

Brynn started gymnastics back up again this fall, and tonight was the first night back. Haylie (pink leotard next to Brynn) was one of Brynn's friends from preschool. She really misses her old cronies left back at church, so she was excited that she gets to see Haylie in gymnastics now. They were pretty wild and silly tonight...as you can see after the first couple of pics. :-)

First day of Kindergarten

Brynn's preschool teachers and friends put together this book for her last day. I was laughing and crying reading it. I love these pictures. Brynn wanted to pack her lunch for today, so last night we filled up her lunch box (shown below) with a sandwich and other goodies. It seemed like we were running on the slow side this morning, unfortunately, but we did get a chance to see the bus pull up to our corner. That was nice, as Brynn could see where it will pick  her up to go to school in the mornings and at about what time she'll need to be ready to make it on the bus. For as many details as she remembers, she forgets schedules and plans that I tell her over and over. When she saw the bus pull up, she says, "hurry! We need to get out there; the bus is waiting!" I reminded her that I was taking her to school today. :-) It was nice to see her hop-to-it attitude about that, though, because she is quite pokey in the mornings, and I'm concerned that she'll be r...

Getting ready for school

Lately, Brynn has really been into watching tutorials on YouTube on my tablet. She'll watch anything from nail designs to cake decorating. When she's busy playing or in the bath tub, we'll catch her in 'tutorial mode,' acting out what she sees from YouTube. It's so funny to listen in. Dana told her a couple of weeks ago that she should do her own tutorial and we'll post in on YouTube. The only thing she knew how to make herself was that Little Critter sandwich she made a while back. So, here's Brynn's own tutorial. :-) Brynn's Tutorial Brynn's friend at preschool had braided her hair to make it kinky and Brynn thought that was pretty cool. I told her how I had done the same to my hair when I was younger. So, after  her baths we usually put it in braids for bed. It's been turning out pretty cute.   Tonight was Meet Your Teacher night at Centennial. Brynn was excited to see where her classroom will be and to meet her teacher. ...

Brynn's Big Day Out

What a big day for Brynn today. Auntie Christel (Dana's sister) is here visiting for the weekend. Daddy is out of town at a bachelor party all weekend, so it's just us girls. This morning all three of us had our nails done at the nail salon in the mall. Brynn has really been into nail designs lately, so she was excited to get those on her toenails and fingernails.  While in the mall, auntie treated Brynn in The Children's Place and bought her new clothes and accessories for school. She was really excited to pick out clothes, jewelry, headbands and shoes. With the three of us being big pasta fans, we ate out for lunch at the Olive Garden. Yum! She has been growing her hair out for a long time, but recently decided to get it cut in time for school. So, we went to Whipper Snippers again and the girl who has happened to cut her hair the past couple of times did so again. Brynn chose pink chalk for her hair this time. She said she likes how it turned out. Then w...

Beach Day

Today was 'Beach Day' at preschool. As Brynn put on her swimsuit to wear for the day, I thought of how this is her last fun-themed day at preschool, as in a couple short weeks, she'll be headed off to Kindergarten. Brynn is excited for the next chapter in her life that is grade school! We have a haircut scheduled for this Saturday, and a plan to purchase school supplies this weekend.  She'll be doing the after school program at Hope Lutheran Church which is where she currently attends preschool. So, I'm glad she'll be familiar with the church already. And Brynn was excited to learn that her best buddy Rosha will also be doing the after school program with her. Rosha will be attending Centennial, too, but we are waiting to find out if they will end up in the same class. Parents always comment how it's hard to keep it together the first day of Kindergarten. I'm afraid I'll start crying in the school supplies aisle at Wal-mart this weekend! Ugh...

Summer Party

On Friday night we attended my co-worker's reception/dance at the Ramada. We had a fun time celebrating with her, and Brynn always loves a good wedding dance, of course. Brynn trying Dippin' Dots for the first time. First she tried rainbow and then strawberry.      Dancing with the bride and a bridesmaid. Yesterday we had our Summer Party in our backyard with our friends and their kids. It turned out to be a really nice day for the party. We all had a really fun time. Elise and Rosha formed a friendship in the tube together. Water balloon time! The baby pool Brynn and I made cookie dough cupcakes. Benjamin found a lady friend in Molly. Molly is 11 months old. When she left the party, Benjamin started crying.
