Getting ready for school

Lately, Brynn has really been into watching tutorials on YouTube on my tablet. She'll watch anything from nail designs to cake decorating. When she's busy playing or in the bath tub, we'll catch her in 'tutorial mode,' acting out what she sees from YouTube. It's so funny to listen in. Dana told her a couple of weeks ago that she should do her own tutorial and we'll post in on YouTube. The only thing she knew how to make herself was that Little Critter sandwich she made a while back. So, here's Brynn's own tutorial. :-)

Brynn's Tutorial

Brynn's friend at preschool had braided her hair to make it kinky and Brynn thought that was pretty cool. I told her how I had done the same to my hair when I was younger. So, after  her baths we usually put it in braids for bed. It's been turning out pretty cute.

Tonight was Meet Your Teacher night at Centennial. Brynn was excited to see where her classroom will be and to meet her teacher. I was thinking of bringing my camera, but feared being "one of those moms," so I left it behind. Luckily, though, Dana did get a couple of snapshots of her by her locker. This past weekend we found out that Rosha and Brynn did make it into the same class, and they were both very excited. We saw tonight that they will be sitting at tables on opposite ends of the row, but that might be a good thing, in case they would get chatty. :-) Kane from Nancy's is also going to be in her class, as well as another boy from HopeKids. There are 22 students in her class.

Brynn had wanted to make a list for her teacher of all the words she wanted to learn how to spell this year. We started on the list, but didn't make it very far.

Brynn is all ready for school with new clothes, hair cut and school supplies. Daddy took her shopping for gym shoes last night. It will be kind of a rough day tomorrow, I think, as that is her last day at Hope Preschool. She told me she is sad to be leaving there and will miss everyone. She did say she would stop by to say 'hi' to her friends, as she will still be at the church after school in the 'school-ager' room.

School starts on Thursday! I'll have another first-day-of-school update then, I'm sure! I will drop her off this week and then next week we'll try having her ride the bus in the mornings. She has already expressed concern of not knowing anyone else on the bus and not being able to watch Cat in the Hat in the mornings, as the bus will stop at our corner about 15 minutes earlier than when we would normally leave for the day.

Yesterday we made monster cookies for her preschool teachers. We'll hand them out tomorrow. She also wanted to bring a treat for all her friends for her last day. So, I'm off to go pick up some store-bought cookies for the kids (I would have just made a double batch, but the rule is now-a-days that treats must be store-bought).

I just have to add what she said when we were making the cookies...she was snitching the dough, of course, and then asked me for some cucumber slices. She was eating those as I was scooping up the dough and says, "mmm, cucumbers. These (the cucumbers) are better than this even," as she's pointing into the dough bowl. Ha! Whose kid is this?! She definitely gets that from Dana. Thank you, Grandma Holly, for the obviously great-tasting cucumbers!

Haha, she's got some movin' and grovin' going on in that video. So cute. Maybe she'll make me a Little Critter sandwich the next time I'm there? Extra chips and hold the pickle, please.

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Easter + April Birthdays

The girls had Thursday, Friday and Monday off from school for the Easter break. So, Dana and I took most of the same time off (work) to match.  Always reading. 💜 Hanging out with Brynn. 💗 Dana and I went on a Costco date. We tried our hand at homemade ravioli again. I think it went a bit more smoothly compared to last time. Hubert's sister Abby stopped by for a visit. We hadn't seen her in a long time and so it was fun to have her We celebrated Dana's birthday and kicked it off with some Sandy's donuts. I don't recall what was so funny. haha. Clara's card. Birthday King Clara dyed eggs. I baked a birthday cake for Dana, messed it up getting it out of the pans, and Clara somehow cobbled it together into a masterpiece. Dana chose Lucky 13's for dinner out. On Saturday we packed up to hit up Oliver's birthday party before we went on to Dead Lake for Easter. Oliver is 9! January + Valentine's Day + CATS!

We ARE still alive over here and have not frozen to death. Here's what we've been up to for the past month and a half! Brynn and Hubert at the OG (Olive Garden): 'Lady and the Tramp' style. haha. Taking in a Force game...with extra fighting. It was very exciting. One Sunday when Clara was at a sleepover, the three of us went to Black Coffee Waffle Bar after church and then for some crepes and boba at Tea & Crepe. Then Brynn and I went prom dress shopping which was really fun. She did find a dress she loves so that was a relief. This is not the one she chose, but she tried on quite a few nice ones. Clara made crowns for the king and I (me). Clara had to write an essay to be considered for the robotics team at school. She waited for at least a couple of weeks to learn if she was accepted, and unfortunately was not. She was pretty disappointed, but she does have a chance to reapply next year when she's a fifth grader, and won't have to write another essay. I th...
