Valentime's Day

Happy (belated) "Valentime's" Day. That's what Brynn still calls it. ;-) Dana and I didn't really do anything to celebrate V-day ourselves, but Brynn had a fun day of exchanging valentines with her classmates and opening the awesome gifts she received from family and friends.

Brynn's preschool teacher and current baby-sitter left a bunch of goodies in our mailbox for Brynn, including these awesome earrings!

Brynn got a card and chocolate Reese's heart from Daddy. She is reading the card from him and surprised that it was from him. ;-)

Earlier this week Brynn was making our a list of what she wanted to do V-day evening. Mostly the list consisted of 'dressing up.' I wasn't quite sure what that entailed and warned her I currently don't fit into any of my 'dress-up' clothes. No matter, I was still outfitted with a make-shift blanket-cape and my own crown. I was the queen after all! Daddy was the king who double as the royal steed. Brynn was the princess, of course. It was a fun evening and Brynn had us laughing the whole time. She was a proper princess, talking in some hybrid accent of British and Southern. Ha. Her horse would get a little riled on her at times.
Trying to ride her horse while holding her basket at the same time.

Dancing with the king and asking him for a kiss.

Today Daddy went snowmobiling, so Brynn and I went to the Kiwanis Pancake Karnival at the Fargodome. As we were walking up to the ticket counter, a lady offered us her extra tickets. How nice! So, we got in for free. It was really busy there and they announced at 10:00 am that they had served 2000 people. The other attraction besides the pancakes and sausage was the bouncy games for the kids. Brynn was most excited about that, of course. However, not sure if that area was a black hole for children or what, because three kids were announced as missing/separated from their parents in just the two hours we were there. And as we were about to make our way out of the bouncy house area, it looked like another little boy was lost, too. He kept circling around the one game alone, saying 'mama? mama?' Luckily Brynn and I were able to stick together the whole time. Yikes!

About to dig into that chocolate heart from Daddy.

Brynn wanted to go outside with her umbrella today. I think she is trying to think Spring with her Easter bucket here and umbrella, but that seems pretty hard to do trudging through all that snow. I don't think she did anything else out there but walk around in the snow with that umbrella. I thought she looked like Mary Poppins of the North.

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Reagan Graduation + MDW + Tennis

This past weekend our oldest niece, Reagan, graduated high school. She will be attending UND for nursing in the fall. We're so proud of you and love you so much, Reagan!   Cousin Cayden had his Italian soda bar set up at the party which was super fun and a big hit. She opened a few gifts the night before her commencement. Reagan is the third generation to graduate from Harvey High as my mom and her dad, Chad also attended there. This was such a fun gift idea that Tessa put together from her and Chad. We got back home Sunday evening and between the four of us doing different things, spent most of Memorial Day outside. It was such beautiful weather. Brynn and I played tennis and Dana and Clara replaced some shrubs and did yardwork. The tennis season has wrapped up for Brynn now. She's sad to not be playing anymore, but still gets some court time between playing with friends and sometimes Clara and/or me. We're so proud of her and glad she played again this year. I had taken s...
