Fourth of July

We had a busy, but fun Fourth of July holiday!

Friday morning we headed out for Dead Lake.

On Friday evening Dana's cousin Marie came out with her kids. Brynn had a blast playing with them. This is the littlest guy of the bunch. I could just eat him up he's so cute!

Must be getting close to bed time. :-)

Dana and Brynn had stocked up on some fireworks on Thursday night, so they set some off on Friday evening.

A Fourth of July toast!

Clara and Grandpa Don

Later in the afternoon on Saturday we went over to Tamarac Lake where my sister was at her in-laws' place. My dad came over, too, as he was waiting for my mom to come up to the lake after her holiday events in Carrington.
Having a snack with Papa Kim

The kids had these walkie-talkies they were playing with and it was so funny listening to their conversations.

Auntie Tessa and her two youngest nieces. Prairie Joy is Chad's youngest brother's daughter and only one week younger than Clara. It was so cute - they are exactly the same size.

We came back home from Tamarac late last night, so Brynn could get packed up for Cousin Camp at Weckerlys' this week. Well, it turns out Brynn will be the only cousin attending, so it's probably more like Brynn Camp. :-) The Weckerlys came and picked her up on their way back from the lake today and she'll be there until about Wednesday. It sure is weird not having her here and we miss her already! I know she's probably already having an awesome time. Thanks, Auntie and Uncle!

It was pretty hot outside today, so after Clara finally woke up from her three-hour nap this afternoon, I cleaned up the water table for her. I just used water from the outside faucet, so it was pretty brisk, but she didn't seem to mind. She's such a big girl now.

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Christmas 2025/New Years 2026

Christmas gift wrapping shenanigans: Keeping Brynn company while she wraps all of our Christmas gifts. Brynn and I couldn't help but peek at the 150 Famous Poems book we gave to Clara. So many good ones. Getting into the holiday spirit at Courts Plus. Ha! Christmas eve brunch. Clara's gingerbread house contest strategy notes. Contestants were allowed 20 minutes to shop for their houses at Wal-mart. We left ourselves little time to get ready for the 3:00 Christmas eve service at our church. But, we made it and thankfully didn't have to sit in the overflow area in the chapel! It was a beautiful service. We had bit more time in between church and when we planned to leave for Tessa's, so I mixed up my eggnog and we got the car packed. Tessa's family hosted Christmas eve at their lake home. We had a great mix of people to play a game of Mind the Gap. Getting cookies ready for Santa. Clara got Dana and me up around 7:30 and we watched her open her stocking. I think Dana a...
