Fall Festival, Friends and Clara Craziness

Brynn was invited to her first friend birthday party sleepover for Saturday night. I think I was more nervous about it than she was, as I was remembering all the times I had gotten homesick at sleepovers when I was younger. She was pretty excited, though. Mostly I think because she told us multiple times that they would be having dessert for breakfast. Whaaaa!? She got her gift wrapped and bag all packed and I dropped her off yesterday afternoon. That was the last I heard/saw of her until I picked her up this morning for Sunday School. Turns out they really did have dessert for breakfast this morning! So, she thought that was pretty cool. This birthday girl is Brynn's classmate and actually doesn't live too far from us, so maybe they can get together to play or have another sleepover sometime. Brynn ended up being the only girl at the 'party.' I think they invited just a couple girls and Brynn was the only one who could make it. I'm glad she had such a good time.

Brynn's Big Week

Last weekend I had updated that Brynn was practicing riding her bike without her training wheels. She came so far in such a short period of time. It was pretty exciting. So, as promised, we set out to find her a bigger bike, without training wheels. Daddy found some nice used ones on Craig's List, and Brynn said she didn't mind if she got a second-hand one. We told her we'd pay for the whole bike then and she could use the money she had saved for a new bike for a scooter or new helmet or something like that. She has been riding her new bike every day that she's been home since the day she got it. She and Daddy have already logged a lot of miles in the past week and a half. I love the look on her face in these pics. She is so excited and proud. At HopeKids this past summer she had made this Redhawks sign. Probably when they had gone to a game. I thought she did really well on the drawing of Hawkeye. Here is their official logo for comparison.

No More Training Wheels

Friday night Brynn grabbed one of Dana's wrenches and with only a bit of Dad's help, once again took off her training wheels. Clara never wants to be left out, so she got a hold of the wrench when Brynn  was done. Brynn got discouraged pretty quickly on Friday night, but Saturday, she was up and down the block practicing. Rosha was over to play and has been riding bike without training wheels for a couple of years now and gave Brynn some tips. They must have worked because Brynn really made great progress yesterday. We were so proud of her. I should have gotten some video, but here is one pic of her going all on her own....with the look of determination! Today she was whizzing back and forth on the sidewalk, no problem. Now I am concerned she's going too fast! PSA disclaimer: Right after I took this pic, she put her helmet on. :-) She has been waiting to learn without training wheels so she can upgrade to a bigger bike, which she desperately needs.  Brynn wa
