Brynn's Big Week

Last weekend I had updated that Brynn was practicing riding her bike without her training wheels. She came so far in such a short period of time. It was pretty exciting. So, as promised, we set out to find her a bigger bike, without training wheels. Daddy found some nice used ones on Craig's List, and Brynn said she didn't mind if she got a second-hand one. We told her we'd pay for the whole bike then and she could use the money she had saved for a new bike for a scooter or new helmet or something like that. She has been riding her new bike every day that she's been home since the day she got it. She and Daddy have already logged a lot of miles in the past week and a half.

I love the look on her face in these pics. She is so excited and proud.

At HopeKids this past summer she had made this Redhawks sign. Probably when they had gone to a game. I thought she did really well on the drawing of Hawkeye. Here is their official logo for comparison.

More excitement: within the same week of learning to ride her bike without training wheels and getting a new bike, Brynn finally lost her first tooth. She has been waiting so long as she has watched her classmates and friends start losing their teeth back in Kindergarten. She had showed me that it was a little wiggly one day, and she must have really been working on it a lot, because Wednesday last week she came home from school and it was out!

It was so tiny!

A whole dollar! :-)

On Saturday, Dana and I attended a wedding in Baxter, MN, so the girls spent the night at my parents' cabin. Brynnie had some good luck fishing with Papa Kim.

Us at the wedding. This was the last one of Dana's college friends to get married. It was a good time.

My mom was laughing at how Clara mothers her baby doll. It is pretty cute and funny, so I finally got some video of her with her baby tonight.

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Christmas 2025/New Years 2026

Christmas gift wrapping shenanigans: Keeping Brynn company while she wraps all of our Christmas gifts. Brynn and I couldn't help but peek at the 150 Famous Poems book we gave to Clara. So many good ones. Getting into the holiday spirit at Courts Plus. Ha! Christmas eve brunch. Clara's gingerbread house contest strategy notes. Contestants were allowed 20 minutes to shop for their houses at Wal-mart. We left ourselves little time to get ready for the 3:00 Christmas eve service at our church. But, we made it and thankfully didn't have to sit in the overflow area in the chapel! It was a beautiful service. We had bit more time in between church and when we planned to leave for Tessa's, so I mixed up my eggnog and we got the car packed. Tessa's family hosted Christmas eve at their lake home. We had a great mix of people to play a game of Mind the Gap. Getting cookies ready for Santa. Clara got Dana and me up around 7:30 and we watched her open her stocking. I think Dana a...
