Fall Festival, Friends and Clara Craziness

Brynn was invited to her first friend birthday party sleepover for Saturday night. I think I was more nervous about it than she was, as I was remembering all the times I had gotten homesick at sleepovers when I was younger. She was pretty excited, though. Mostly I think because she told us multiple times that they would be having dessert for breakfast. Whaaaa!? She got her gift wrapped and bag all packed and I dropped her off yesterday afternoon. That was the last I heard/saw of her until I picked her up this morning for Sunday School. Turns out they really did have dessert for breakfast this morning! So, she thought that was pretty cool. This birthday girl is Brynn's classmate and actually doesn't live too far from us, so maybe they can get together to play or have another sleepover sometime. Brynn ended up being the only girl at the 'party.' I think they invited just a couple girls and Brynn was the only one who could make it. I'm glad she had such a good time.

All ready for the sleepover.

Speaking of friends, after Brynn left, Clara and I had Amanda and Adria over for a visit. It was so hilarious to watch the girls interact. Clara kept trying to either clobber or hug Adria, and Adria wasn't too sure about that.

Fun with the AC vent.

It was so beautiful out yesterday, we ate supper on the deck. It was sure weird not having Brynn around.

Daddy's Girl

Bathtub shenanigans!

She has started to take her washcloth and clean the edge of the tub now. She looks like a lil old barkeep. Ha.

Rheault Farm Fall Festival was this weekend as well, and we couldn't miss out on that. We went this afternoon and what a beautiful day. Not surprisingly, it was very busy there.

We ran into Rosha and her parents.

Brynn picked out 'the ripest pumpkin,' according to her. :-) It sure was a nice one. So, we had to get some pictures with it.

Dana and Brynn have been going on a bike ride almost nightly since it's been so nice out. I'm glad Brynn is getting so much use out of her bike yet this year. Meanwhile, Clara and I played around outside a bit before bath time. Just this weekend Clara has gotten more adventurous and will walk all the way across a room or the down the hallway, rather than her maximum of five steps at a time. She still prefers crawling most of the time though.

So glad Brynnie had a fun sleepover! I was thinking you guys were probably at Fall Festival this afternoon - was a gorgeous day. Wow - can't wait to see sweet Clara walking more. Just warms my heart to see her and Adria together - so neat.

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Christmas 2025/New Years 2026

Christmas gift wrapping shenanigans: Keeping Brynn company while she wraps all of our Christmas gifts. Brynn and I couldn't help but peek at the 150 Famous Poems book we gave to Clara. So many good ones. Getting into the holiday spirit at Courts Plus. Ha! Christmas eve brunch. Clara's gingerbread house contest strategy notes. Contestants were allowed 20 minutes to shop for their houses at Wal-mart. We left ourselves little time to get ready for the 3:00 Christmas eve service at our church. But, we made it and thankfully didn't have to sit in the overflow area in the chapel! It was a beautiful service. We had bit more time in between church and when we planned to leave for Tessa's, so I mixed up my eggnog and we got the car packed. Tessa's family hosted Christmas eve at their lake home. We had a great mix of people to play a game of Mind the Gap. Getting cookies ready for Santa. Clara got Dana and me up around 7:30 and we watched her open her stocking. I think Dana a...
