This past week

Since we didn't make it to Elise's birthday party a couple of weeks ago due to the weather, we went this past weekend for a visit. The kids all had a fun time playing together, of course, and we adults always have a good time catching up.

Little Women

Elise opening up her gift from us.

Elise and Brynn playing with the Lego set we gave Elise.

It was pretty nice on Saturday, so headed down to the barn to visit the cows.

Goldie and Daisy are all grown up!

Reagan and Elise tried getting Brynn into Clue, but it was Brynn's first time playing it and she thought it was rather complicated.

Watching TV

Tessa lent us her little play kitchen set. We have yet to find a more permanent spot for it, but the girls have been 'cooking' all kinds of things in there.

Brynn had been saying for some time now that she doesn't like her bed next to the window. We have some struggles at night time between storms, nightmares and outside noises, etc. So, we thought we would try other things to help her sleep well at night. And she said she was kind of tired of the way her room was set up and wanted a bit of a change. So, we did some rearranging this week and she say it's working out really well for her.

On Monday Brynn's class went on a field trip to the Plains Art Museum where they made clay dinosaurs. Brynn's teacher texted this photo of Brynn to us which was so nice. You can kind of see her dinosaur there in her hands.

Clara is well-known for being a moocher...and a snacker. She always goes and finds this tub of peanut butter pretzel bites. She was having some after supper last night.

When I was home Wednesday afternoon with the girls, Brynn seemed to be having a challenging day with me in regard to her attitude and not listening. I let her type in Word on my computer for a while while I was upstairs making supper. I had kind of forgotten that she had been on my computer until today when I went on it and saw she had typed this note to me. :-)

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Christmas 2025/New Years 2026

Christmas gift wrapping shenanigans: Keeping Brynn company while she wraps all of our Christmas gifts. Brynn and I couldn't help but peek at the 150 Famous Poems book we gave to Clara. So many good ones. Getting into the holiday spirit at Courts Plus. Ha! Christmas eve brunch. Clara's gingerbread house contest strategy notes. Contestants were allowed 20 minutes to shop for their houses at Wal-mart. We left ourselves little time to get ready for the 3:00 Christmas eve service at our church. But, we made it and thankfully didn't have to sit in the overflow area in the chapel! It was a beautiful service. We had bit more time in between church and when we planned to leave for Tessa's, so I mixed up my eggnog and we got the car packed. Tessa's family hosted Christmas eve at their lake home. We had a great mix of people to play a game of Mind the Gap. Getting cookies ready for Santa. Clara got Dana and me up around 7:30 and we watched her open her stocking. I think Dana a...
