Mother's Day

You know what they say - if you put something down in writing or tell someone else your goal or plan, you're more likely to stick with it. Maybe sharing these pics here then will help keep me going. For the past couple of weeks, I've been getting up and going for a run/walk or bike ride in the mornings before getting ready for work. Some of the mornings have been just beautiful and the perfect temperature, but the past couple of days have been pretty chilly. Once I drag myself out of bed, I am able to realize what a nice time of day it is. :-) It was a rough start to my 'program' since I didn't read up on how to get started and ended up with a really bad case of shin splints. But, things are going better now that I figured out how to ease into it more.

My first day. I made it home alive!

Last Friday Brynn didn't have school again and Dana took the day off to be home with the girls. They stopped by my office to visit me and brought me flowers. I loved it!

Last weekend we went to Carrington to celebrate my dad's 60th birthday and Mother's Day.

Clara loves playing with Papa Kim and all their fun toys downstairs.

Brynn spent most of the day on Saturday planning out games, competitions and feats of strength challenges for all of us to participate in at Grandpa's "party." It was such a nice day out, we had a good time doing the activities she planned. (Thanks Tessa for some of these photos.)

After we had a foot race of which Dana took first place and Reagan second, we had an egg and spoon race. I think that was my favorite activity.

Can you spy Reagan's turquoise egg way above her head?

Prettiest photo bomb!

One day we might get one good pic of all the grandkids with everyone looking happily at the camera.

Happy Birthday, Grandpa!

Grandpa thinking hard on his wish.

Clara with Uncle Chad

Of course, as expected, Clara was pretty smitten with new cousin, Oliver. She loved every minute of holding him. Love these pics Tessa took of Clara and Oliver with the great-grandmas.

Clara and Auntie

It was a gorgeous day when we got back on Sunday, so we tried to spend as much time outside after we got back home.

Unfortunately, we did not get to spend Mother's Day with Dana's mom. But we were thinking of you, Holly, so here is a Flashback Friday photo of Dana and his mom. I think this was his confirmation...? We love you!

Happy Mother's Day!

Brynn was so excited that her drawing submission for the PeeWee Penguin drawing contest at our credit union made it into the newsletter.

Crystal growing update.

Almost done with second grade! Waiting for the bus one morning this week. Usually it's the other way around, though, and the bus driver is waiting for Brynn. :-/

Already the second time the ice cream truck has come around. Tis the season!

This was last Monday's craft Brynn and her friend made at the library.

Clara decided to squeeze herself into her doll pac-n-play. :-)

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Christmas 2025/New Years 2026

Christmas gift wrapping shenanigans: Keeping Brynn company while she wraps all of our Christmas gifts. Brynn and I couldn't help but peek at the 150 Famous Poems book we gave to Clara. So many good ones. Getting into the holiday spirit at Courts Plus. Ha! Christmas eve brunch. Clara's gingerbread house contest strategy notes. Contestants were allowed 20 minutes to shop for their houses at Wal-mart. We left ourselves little time to get ready for the 3:00 Christmas eve service at our church. But, we made it and thankfully didn't have to sit in the overflow area in the chapel! It was a beautiful service. We had bit more time in between church and when we planned to leave for Tessa's, so I mixed up my eggnog and we got the car packed. Tessa's family hosted Christmas eve at their lake home. We had a great mix of people to play a game of Mind the Gap. Getting cookies ready for Santa. Clara got Dana and me up around 7:30 and we watched her open her stocking. I think Dana a...
