Thanksgiving 2016

We had a good Thanksgiving holiday again this year, albeit a bit quieter than previous years. We had been planning for Tessa and her family, Dana's parents and Brynn's friend Rosha and her family. Unfortunately cousin Elise fell ill with a bug on Wednesday, so we were missing them this year.

Brynn made her own checker board and had Grandpa Kevin in a rousing game.

Dana had bought a smoker a couple of weeks ago and really wanted to smoke a turkey for Thanksgiving. I couldn't give up my traditional stuffed bird, though, so we did a bit of each. They both turned out well, I think. Dana's was Smokey and mine was The Bandit. :-)

Brynn made up another game: pin the feather on the turkey. It was super fun.

Grandma Holly brought some fabric and supplies for a sewing project to do with Brynn.

They made little Christmas stockings for Brynn and Clara's dolls.

Clara and me with Fataneh (Rosha's mom).

Brynn set up a little tea setting for her and Rosha. I'm pretty sure they ate more of those goodies than the turkey dinner meal. :-/

After dinner the girls treated us to some magic entertainment. Here is a video of their trick and then explaining how the trick works:

Aww, looks like so much fun! I'm so sad we missed out. I love Brynn's hair in the video and appreciate the "behind the scenes" look at their magic :) Looks like Brynn is going to be a great hostess someday with all her fun games and everything! Happy Thanksgiving, Froemmings!

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Halloween 2025

Happy Halloween! We did trick-or-treating at my office again and celebrated National Cat Day a couple of days late. Unicorn making magic happen! The kids and Freddy. We got a little bit of a late start around 7:30. We went to a neighborhood near the high school where several of Clara's friends live. We stopped at Micah's house to say hi and another schoolmate happened to be over as well. We got to visiting too long and by the time we headed back out, some houses either had run out of candy (including Micah's, where they went through 600 pieces his mom said) or were already done for the night. But, we still got around to several. It had just gotten done raining and the wind was cold, so I didn't care to be out too long myself. Clara asked to have another post-Halloween party this year and Brynn planned and executed the whole thing. One of our fav parts was the missing children posters which were all the guests. Green Army Man, Clara Barton, Luna Lovegood (from Harry Pott...

Christmas 2025/New Years 2026

Christmas gift wrapping shenanigans: Keeping Brynn company while she wraps all of our Christmas gifts. Brynn and I couldn't help but peek at the 150 Famous Poems book we gave to Clara. So many good ones. Getting into the holiday spirit at Courts Plus. Ha! Christmas eve brunch. Clara's gingerbread house contest strategy notes. Contestants were allowed 20 minutes to shop for their houses at Wal-mart. We left ourselves little time to get ready for the 3:00 Christmas eve service at our church. But, we made it and thankfully didn't have to sit in the overflow area in the chapel! It was a beautiful service. We had bit more time in between church and when we planned to leave for Tessa's, so I mixed up my eggnog and we got the car packed. Tessa's family hosted Christmas eve at their lake home. We had a great mix of people to play a game of Mind the Gap. Getting cookies ready for Santa. Clara got Dana and me up around 7:30 and we watched her open her stocking. I think Dana a...
