Christmas Vacation: Day Eight

Today's Christmas vacation post is pretty minimal...just like the day was. I went to the walk-in clinic and came out with meds for a sinus infection. So, I didn't feel up to doing too much today. We talked about going bowling, but no one seemed too excited to go out into the cold, so the girls watched 'Frozen' instead. (How fitting! Brrr!)  We did get our Christmas tree and decorations put away tonight. And we had bedtime story in Brynn's bed.

Christmas Vacation: Day Seven

Today's bucket list items started out with Morning Movie in which the girls chose The Emoji Movie.  Later in the morning we did our gingerbread person decorating contest. We called upon a select group of family and friends to place their votes for their favorite. And the winner and recipient of a Cold Stone gift card is.... Brynnie! Thanks to all who voted. Brynn was super excited to have won. We wrapped up the evening with family game night: another bucket list item. We played Toilet Trouble and Apples to Apples Junior.

Christmas Vacation: Day Six

This morning started out with some more Easy Bake oven creations, painting and Brynn's fossil dig kit that she received for Christmas. It was also a good day for some hot chocolate and sisterly love. Our bucket list item that we had planned for today was Skate City. I was pretty nervous as I am really terrible on rollerblades or skates...any type of wheels strapped to my feet, really. Brynn was really excited to go and Clara just kept saying how she was going to fall on her butt. We were all still upright at this point! We had barely gotten there and were sitting down to get our skates on and Brynn says, "I don't know how to skate." So, I asked her why she wanted to come then. Haha. She had been there before with Hope, I believe. They did have PVC pipe stands that you could skate along with which was really helpful for both girls. Dana whizzed laps around us to which Brynn told me "Dad is the only one of us who actually knows...

Christmas Vacation: Day Five

Today we headed home, but this morning the kids played for awhile first. And Ollie was being goofy. ;-) Brynn showing me her bedroom design book she received. It is totally up her alley. And it even included a Yorkie dog sticker which is her favorite breed of dog. The girls had planned to get to work with their new Easy Bake oven right away when we got back. Brynn wasn't too sure how their first recipe turned out. Ha. The big sister "look."  I think tomorrow our plan is to knock out Skate City from the bucket list. Pray for me; we're all going and I am terrible at rollerblading/skating. Clara is also worried she's going to "fall on her butt." Maybe she and I will just go for the snacks. ;-)

Christmas Vacation Days Three and Four: Christmas Celebrations #1 and #2

On Christmas eve we stopped on our way to Hurdsfield to have lunch and my parents' and then continued on to Weckerlys. We went to the Christmas eve service at their church and then celebrated with the Dietz side at Weckerlys'. Thanks for hosting, Tessa and Chad! Auntie Shelly with her fancy hat. Grandma Darlene gifted Tessa and me our cards that we had made for her and Grandpa Don over the years. From anniversaries to birthdays and mother's and father's day, I remembered making some of the cards, but there were quite a few surprises in there. What a great gift and we all had a good time reminiscing while looking at them. Most of mine were pretty hilariously awful. Grandpa had taken a spill on a neighbor's rocks one time, so Tessa made him a card to get well soon  which is the one she's showing here. :-) Grandma had noted the occasion for the card on the back. Elise received an awesome and very realistic doctor kit...
