Christmas Vacation Days Three and Four: Christmas Celebrations #1 and #2

On Christmas eve we stopped on our way to Hurdsfield to have lunch and my parents' and then continued on to Weckerlys. We went to the Christmas eve service at their church and then celebrated with the Dietz side at Weckerlys'. Thanks for hosting, Tessa and Chad!

Auntie Shelly with her fancy hat.

Grandma Darlene gifted Tessa and me our cards that we had made for her and Grandpa Don over the years. From anniversaries to birthdays and mother's and father's day, I remembered making some of the cards, but there were quite a few surprises in there. What a great gift and we all had a good time reminiscing while looking at them. Most of mine were pretty hilariously awful.

Grandpa had taken a spill on a neighbor's rocks one time, so Tessa made him a card to get well soon  which is the one she's showing here. :-)

Grandma had noted the occasion for the card on the back.

Elise received an awesome and very realistic doctor kit from my parents. All the kids had fun with it.

Ben ended up being in charge of putting together the cookies and milk and note for Santa. Elise did step in also to help with the water and carrots for the reindeer. His note was so precious.

Santa came!

Christmas Day was at Tessa and Chad's again and Grandma D and aunt Judy came over to celebrate Christmas and Grandma's birthday.

Ben got in some Lego time with Uncle Dana.

Albeit unsightly, this was the Christmas ham. :-) Chad started out cooking it in his sous vide and finished it on the grill. I think most of us were skeptical, but it turned out very good.

A couple of pics of the core four!

Holiday jazz hands!

Happy 89th birthday, Grandma D!

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Easter + April Birthdays

The girls had Thursday, Friday and Monday off from school for the Easter break. So, Dana and I took most of the same time off (work) to match.  Always reading. 💜 Hanging out with Brynn. 💗 Dana and I went on a Costco date. We tried our hand at homemade ravioli again. I think it went a bit more smoothly compared to last time. Hubert's sister Abby stopped by for a visit. We hadn't seen her in a long time and so it was fun to have her We celebrated Dana's birthday and kicked it off with some Sandy's donuts. I don't recall what was so funny. haha. Clara's card. Birthday King Clara dyed eggs. I baked a birthday cake for Dana, messed it up getting it out of the pans, and Clara somehow cobbled it together into a masterpiece. Dana chose Lucky 13's for dinner out. On Saturday we packed up to hit up Oliver's birthday party before we went on to Dead Lake for Easter. Oliver is 9! Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...
